1. PROPOSAL SUMMARY

During the industrial revolution 4.0, learning activities did not only
use books as learning resources. But now there are many learning methods
that use internet technology. The area of learning that is currently in great
demand is the field of technology. One area of technology that is rife in
development is the Internet of Thing field.

Internet of Thing is a concept where an object has the ability to

transfer data through a network without requiring human-to-human or
human-computer interaction. Everything or everything that is controlled
using the internet. Currently in Indonesia there are already many institutions
that develop Internet of Thing technology. One of them is SEAMOLEC.

SEAMOLEC is an institution that works under the Organization of

Southeast Asian Ministers of Education which is responsible for developing
Open Education and Distance Education in Southeast Asia. In the case of
the development of the Internet of Thing, SEAMOLEC makes learning
methods in the field of the Internet of Thing or in other fields with open and
distance education methods.

At present SEAMOLEC has developed a system and content of the

Massive Open Online Course or widely known as MOOC, this platform can
be used to carry out distance learning in the Southeast Asia area and other
special short courses for free. The purpose and benefits of the MOOC
platform are to facilitate the teaching and learning process so that it is not
left behind even when the teaching staff is not in place.

iv
2. PRELIMINARY

2.1.Background

Internet of Things is a program that is often associated with the

industrial revolution 4.0. Several countries in Southeast Asia have
developed industries supported by the government, including Indonesia.
This growing industry is something that must be considered in developing
educational curricula in Indonesia, to prepare student competencies so that
they can participate in the current revolution. The development of
competent human resources appropriate to welcome the industrial
revolution 4.0 in the field of vocational attention is more from the
government.
In several countries in the Southeast Asia region, the IoT industry
has developed rapidly. Singapore has implemented in the field of smart
nation, Malaysia has implemented an IoT roadmap in education, Vietnam
in the process of building an IoT development laboratory to support start-
up. Facing this reality, concrete solutions and models are needed so that
competencies and skills in the IoT field can be learned in a massive and
open manner. The results obtained will determine the alignment of the
appropriate curriculum for vocational education.

2.2.Formulation Of The Problem

This research problem formulation is :

1. How does the MOOC application improve the skills of

polytechnic students in Southeast Asia in the field of technology?
2. What is the student's perception of the use of the MOOC
application to improve technology development skills, especially
polytechnic students in Southeast Asia?
2.3.Limitation Problems

Limitation problems from this research are:

1. The research takes a case study on a polytechnic that has been

determined in Indonesia.
2. The study was conducted by observing the provision of
curriculum to polytechnic students.
3. The results of the analysis of observations will be processed to be
used as guidelines for the development of distance learning
curriculum in the field of the Internet of Things.

2.4.Research Objectives

This study aims to find out how the use of the MOOC application
enhances the development of the most important technological learning in
the field of the Internet of Thing, measuring students' perceptions of the
use of the MOOC application to improve their skills in the field of Internet
of Thing technology. And developing distance learning methods based on
MOOC to improve the quality of vocational education in the era of the
industrial revolution 4.0.

2.5.Benefits of Research

a. Theoretical Benefits
The results of this study can be the basis for developing learning
media or applying further learning media. It also becomes a value added
treasure of knowledge in the field of education and technology in
Indonesia in preparing competent human resources for students in
vocational education in the field of Internet of Thing and developing
distance learning methods based on MOOC to improve the quality of
vocational education in the revolutionary era.
b. Practical benefits
1. For students, the research results are expected to improve and
train students' thinking patterns with various problems that have
never been encountered before
2. For lecturers, the application of mobile applications in learning
can facilitate students to prepare competent human resources
for students in vocational education in the IoT field.
3. For polytechnics, the results of research into the use of this
mobile application provide a reference in improving the quality
of teaching and learning skills. And polytechnics can
collaborate with various majors to get the best products in the
IoT field. IoT products for students that deserve to be sold &
utilized by the community
4. For researchers, researchers are able to implement appropriate
mobile applications in the provision of certain learning
materials. And researchers have the knowledge and insight
regarding the appropriate learning material and media.
3. METHODOLOGY
Technical the methodology used in the study includes the stages:

1. Concept Determination
2. Literature Review
3. Data collection using the Observation method (starting with the
selection of case study targets, conducting training and evaluation) and
Questionnaires on pre-existing platforms.
4. Analyze the results of observations and questionnaires.
5. Formulation of curriculum material.

The implementation of distance learning begins in June 2020 with
plans for implementation starting in several vocational schools in
Indonesia. Furthermore learning is carried out in several polytechnics in
Southeast Asia. The implementation of learning up to October 2020. The
method of training and mentoring on the implementation of learning uses
the Blended Learning method. With one time training meeting and
mentoring as many as 8 meetings. In one week two meetings are held. The
learning meeting is carried out two methods in the form of face-to-face 4
meetings and video conference 4 meetings. The total implementation of
training and mentoring for 4 weeks.

Learning materials to be taught to trainees and mentoring are:

1. Project based learning
2. Industrial Revolution 4.0
3. Internet of Thing
4. Microcontroller
5. Introduction of microcontroller input and output functions
6. Introduction of sensor types
7. Basic programming
8. Introduction of cloud platform for IoT

With the material to be studied by these students, there are several

requirements that must be met by the organizer including:
1. PC / Laptop devices
2. Internet connection of at least 1 MBpS
3. Android smartphone

The implementation of distance learning activities has a target for

the agency that organizes the activity that is making an IoT product that
can be sold and implemented in the agenc.
LED CONTROL USING ESP8266 (NODEMCU)

a. Definition

Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are electronic components that can

emit semiconductor monochromatic light. The shape of an LED is similar
to a bulb (light bulb) that is small and can be easily attached to an
electronic device.
b. symbols and shapes Led

c. How it Works LED

Leds will only emit light if the forward voltage is biased forward
from the anode to the cathode
d. Programming LED with NodeMCU
Arrange the LED using the protoboard as shown, then connect the
long leg (Anode) to the digital pin on the microcontroller, then connect the
short leg (cathode) to Ground (G) on the microcontroller.

Add programs for LEDs on the Arduino IDE as follows :

void setup () {

pinMode(D5, OUTPUT); //pin disesuaikan dengan yang terpasang

pada pin digital mikrokontroller

void loop () {

digitalWrite(D5, HIGH); //menghidupkan lampu

delay(1000); //memberikan waktu jeda lampu

menyala selama 1 detik digitalWrite(D5, LOW);
//mematikan lampu

delay(1000); //memberikan waktu jeda lampu mati selama 1 detik

e. Then upload the program that has been created as above, press the arrow
button
f. If successful, the done uploading text will appear at the bottom as follows :
