-colour the right fruit in the colour that the T says.
-recognise the fruit and say whether they like it or not.
Assumptions:
-students might be reluctant when it comes to speaking in front of the class.

Activity 1: Warmer/Lead in
The T holds a card in her hands and asks the Ss what she is holding. After they have guessed she
asks them if they like apples or not. Then she show them the basket and asks Ss what they think
it is in there. She shows them the flashcards and asks the Ss to repeat the words after her.
Aim: to pronounce words correctly and recognize the fruits.
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Teacher’s role: introducing the lesson and helping Ss with words.
Time: 10 minutes

Activity 2: Guided practice

The T uses the smart board to ask Ss to come in the front and show her the fruit she is saying.
She uses the fruit worksheets from the British Council site.
e.g. touch the banana/coconut/watermelon.
Aim: to recognize the fruit, show them and pronounce them.
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Teacher’s role: monitoring the activity helping them if necessary
Time: 10 minutes

Activity 3: Further practice

The T asks Ss if they like certain fruits and they have to answer with yes or no.
e.g. -Do you like apples?
-Yes, I do/ -No, I don’t.

1
The T insists on this exercise as it may be a bit difficult for Ss to remember the answers both for
negative and positive. If the Ss are doing well, the T will ask two Ss to come in front of the class
and make a very short dialogue.
Aim: to develop speaking skills by answering the T’s questions.
Interaction: T-Ss, S-S, S-T
Teacher’s role: monitoring the activity helping Ss with the song by stopping it when
necessary.
Time: 10 minutes

Activity 4: Consolidation
The T gives Ss a worksheet on which they have to colour the smiley face near the fruit they like
or the sad face near the fruit they do not like. Then they have to draw and colour three fruits
they like and three they do not. Then they have to say what they have drawn.
e.g. I like apples, strawberries and watermelon.
I don’t like melons and lemons.
Aim: to improve drawing and speaking skills by drawing and saying what they like and do not
like.
Interaction: T-Ss, S-S, S-T
Teacher’s role: monitoring the activity helping Ss if necessary.
Time: 10 minutes

Activity 6: Feedback and Peer assessment

The Ss get a worksheet with fruits and vegetables and they have to colour only the fruits the T
says and in the colour she is saying.
Aim: to improve listening skills by colouring the right fruits in the right colour.
Interaction: T-Ss, S-T
Teacher’s role: monitoring the activity helping Ss if necessary.
