AIMS OF LESSON: By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
 to use verb to be in the right context;
 to talk about past activities;
 to solve a crossword;
 to answer T/F questions;
 develop and practice productive and receptive skills (writing, speaking);

OBJECTIVES:
A. Cognitive objectives:
 to check and improve vocabulary;
 to encourage students to talk freely;
 to give students more practice on pronunciation, vocabulary and the structures previously
taught.
B. Affective objectives:
 making students confident in their ability to use the language;
 creating interest in the topic of the lesson;
 creating a relaxed atmosphere, proper for studying;

ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
 T will offer Ss guidance in solving certain exercises if it is necessary;
 T will offer Ss supplementary explanation in Romanian if it is necessary;
 Some Ss might have problems when working in pairs or in group.

STAGES OF THE LESSON
I. WARM-UP:
AIMS: -to involve Ss and motivate them to participate; -to develop speaking skills,
Activity 1: Greet the Ss, waiting for an answer. T asks if there are any absents today and
what's the date. Check the homework.

II. LEAD IN
AIMS: - to create interest in the topic; - develop and practice productive and receptive
skills (writing)
Activity 1: Ask Ss to solve a crossword in order to find out the title of the lesson (ANNEX
1). After solving the crossword, the T announces the title and the aims of the new lesson.
TIMING: 3 MIN.

III. PRESENTATION
AIMS:-to develop and practice productive and receptive skills, - to choose the correct
response; -to introduce the structures; -to answer questions about the text
Activity 1: Ss watch a movie segment and are asked to check the correct responses
according to it (ANNEX 2). Ask Ss to identify the forms of the main verb and write down
the affirmative, the negative and the interrogative forms of verb to be. After watching the
segment answer some questions from movie. (ANNEX 3)
TIMING: 10 MIN.

IV. PRACTICE
AIMS: - to use the verb in the right structure, - develop and practice productive and
receptive skills (writing).
Activity 1: Ss solve a worksheet by using all the forms of the verb to be (ANNEX 4).
TIMING: 12 MIN.
TECHNIQUES AND INTERACTION: T-Ss, Ss-Ss, exercise, individual work.
Activity 2: Each group receives four cards from a set of soap opera cards and some word-
cards. The object is to find 3 words cards to make a sentence that tells what is happening in
one of the pictures. After matching the words with the pictures, 4 Ss from each group come
to an agreement to the correct order of the story (ANNEX 5).
TIMING: 10 MIN.
TECHNIQUES AND INTERACTION: T-Ss, Ss-Ss, flashcards, group work.

V. FREE PRACTICE
AIMS: - to create a relaxed atmosphere, proper for studying; - use these structures in the
right context.
Activity 1: Have two lists: one with different places and a list of animals. And make two
tables on the board. Ss roll the dice and make sentences, by starting "Yesterday, I was at
the……with a/an…….." (ANNEX 6)
TIMING: 10 MIN.

VI. EVALUATION
AIMS: - to check Ss understanding of the lesson; - to get a feed-back from the Ss.
Activity 1: The teacher announces the homework and gives the students the explanations on
