Political Dynasty Policy in the Philippines.

ISSUES
1. Whether Anti-Political Dynasty policy should be passed and implemented in the Philippines.

BRIEF ANSWERS
1. No. Such policies would hinder the people’s freedom to choose those who will govern them.
The Constitution already provided for the minimum qualifications of elected officials which does
not prohibit members of political dynasties. Congress cannot pass a law that would limit the
qualifications provided by the Constitution. Furthermore, the Constitution has already provided
for term limits in order to avoid the evil of a single person accumulating excessive power, which
is in harmony with the provision in Article II, Section 26 of the Constitution.

CONCLUSION
To conclude, the passing of Anti-Political Dynasty policies would hinder the freedom of
the people to choose, and would also be unconstitutional.
