SURVIVOR 2020

Overview

We will be doing a variety of games this unit focusing on

cooperation, teamwork, strategy, and

leadership/followership. I will be using the Sports Education

Model for this unit. Students will get the opportunity to build

an effective team by working with the same groups each

day encouraging bonding and creating a more realistic team-

like situation. We will be using the Survivor theme to increase

the motivation of the students and add to the idea of

teams working together to achieve a goal. Each class there

will be points allotted to the groups based on the day’s

games and other themes such as team spirit, strategy, and

whole team participation that align with the outcomes of this

unit.

Stations: Quick explanation 9:35-10:00 Assessment

• Don’t do the same one if you just did it
• Be honest and complete these challenges well
• Some stations only have one resource but some have two so
you just pick one, probably the one you need at first to get all Observation
4 resources then any after that.

1. Body words - Food

• Groups must spell out 3 words with their bodies only,
everyone must be used in some way other than the
photographer but switch out the photographer each time so
everyone get in at least one photo
• One member takes a picture of each word on the Ipad Participation
• If you are doing this one again, you must do different words
than last time

2. Human Knot - Shelter & fire

• Students stand in a circle and hold their right hand straight in
front of themselves and grab a hand across from them, not
the one beside them. They do the same with the left hand

(without crossing their own arm) and try to untangle

themselves.

3. 2 Exercise stations - Fire & Shelter Observation

• Tribes must all complete the list of exercises to win 1
resource card

4. Hula hoop pass around the circle 3 times - Water

5. Cotton ball slingshot - Water, food

• One spoon, line up and rotate through
• Sling shot the cotton ball into the bowl
• If you don’t get it in, you go grab the cotton ball and put it
back in the pink bowl and the next person goes
• You must get 10 cotton balls in to win one resource card or Points
all of them to win both

Scooter relay race (5-10 mins) 10:00-10:15

• Pick one person to be your manikin, they sit on the scooter
the whole time and cannot move themselves at all
• Everyone else will relay through the obstacle course and grab
one piece of the costume and bring it back and put it on the
manikin
• Once you have all the pieces back, on your scooters you will
have to figure out how to push your manikin through the
obstacle course while still on your scooters and the first team
to get the whole tribe including the manikin all dressed up to
the opposite side wins 4 points, the next 3, then 2, then 1!

Tribal council (5 mins) 10:15-10:18

• Team manikins come and add points from the relay race and
from resource cards after relay race is done
• Team spirit points are awarded by the teacher - Team photo
• Teams vote for team leaders for the next day on sticky notes
so no one else sees who you voted for

Clean up (2 mins) 10:18-10:20

Closure (5 min.):

• If you want a better chance of getting team spirit points,
coordinate outfits tomorrow!
