GLOBAL PANDEMIC
THE IMPACT OF CRIMES ON THE WAR AGAINST GLOBAL
PANDEMIC
The novel corona virus pandemic, after declaration of
WHO, has affected the life of individuals as well as
economy of country .The pandemic has emerged in
the Wuhan city of china. As the cases of pandemic
emerged in the Pakistan the feeling of insecurity
emerged in minds of individuals. The fallout of the
COVID-19 pandemic is having profound impacts on
society and the economy, and it will also influence
and shape organized crime and illicit markets. The
institutional response to the pandemic and the
consequent reshaping of socio-economic norms
worldwide will affect how criminal networks operate, as well as the nature of law-enforcement responses
to them.

At these early stages of the pandemic, these impacts may be difficult to fully understand, and
appropriate responses difficult to gauge. What seems clear, however, is that the pandemic has reduced
some organized-criminal activities while simultaneously providing opportunities for new ones, and these
changes in the organized-criminal economy could have long-term consequences. But this pandemic is
proved as golden opportunity for hoarders, black marketers and organized criminals in Pakistan. In
Pakistan there emerged many crimes which make the country’s strategies weak to combat the war of
corona virus. The corona virus pandemic is an opportunity for organized crime in Asia. The crimes which
have weak our country’s fight against virus are following:

1. Essential entities hoarding

2. Mask price hiking

3. Cyber crimes

4. Black-marketing of medical supplies

5. Low quality sanitizer

1 ESSENTIAL ENTITIES HOARDING

The essential entities like wheat, sugar and basic edible items are
hoarded by hoarders and sold at greater price .during pandemic as
government is working for implantation of lock down which ceates
feeling of insecurity regarding edibles ,so people used to buy many items
for future use .but this insecurity become golden opportunity for people
and they raised price beyond the normal price .
2 MASK PRICE HIKING

Price of Face masks skyrocketed in Pakistan after thirty-one cases

of coronavirus were confirmed in the country.According to
reports, masks have either disappeared from medical stores in the
city or are being sold at exorbitant prices across the metropolis.A
medical store owner told private news, a box of ordinary surgical
masks that would have ordinarily cost somewhere between Rs300
to 400 is now being sold for more than Rs4,000.State Minister of
Health of Pakistan Dr Zafar Mirza has been accused of smuggling
20 million face masks abroadAccording to the details, the
Pharmacists Association has alleged that Federal Minister Dr Zafar Mirza smuggled a face mask
with the connivance of deputy director of DRAP Ghazanfar Ali.Despite a ban by the government
of Pakistan on the export of masks, nearly 10,000 N-95 masks and more than 3,600 ordinary
regular masks were exported to China. Six companies were given special permission to export
masks to China, leading to a shortage in the country.

LOW QUALITY SANITIZER

Low quality sentizer are used to sell markets and people may purchase them on behalf that they may
protect the from contangious. .

3 CYBER CRIME

Cyber criminals has emerged in great number as lock down. As the world is under quarantine
and people are resorting to the internet and online communities, it seems that the percentage of
cybercrime has increased drastically. This is partly linked to the amount of people that are online
and the increase number of devices being used. Cybercriminals are taking advantage of this
pandemic and are spreading viruses thorough fake emails that claim to know the cure for Covid-
19. By doing so these criminals are able to collect personal data and sensitive information
including credit card numbers and bank account details.

It is high time that the cyber division of all countries work together to crack down on
these offenders. It is an absolute disgrace to commit such crimes during these testing times. The
concerned authorities need to look into the matter and be vigilant.

4 BLACK-MARKETING OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES

Black marketing is the illegal trade of goods and services with the intention to evade the lawful
requirements of such trade. A black market is the illegal purchase and sale of goods and services. The
presence of black markets all over the world is evidence that the laws of supply and demand are virtually
impossible to defy. When regulation or taxation becomes too high, when supply and demand are way out
of balance, or when competition has been too restricted, people will always look for a way to get goods or
services cheaper, faster or more easily.Pakistan 31st among black market countries.

According to a website monitoring black marketing activities, Pakistan ranks 31st out of 91 countries in
the world with a black market value of over six billion dollars.

The black economy is a commercial activity that operates outside of laws, regulations, and taxes. It's also
called the shadow economy, the underground economy, or the informal economy.Gas and oil smuggling
is estimated at 66 million dollars.

Pakistan Healthcare system of Pakistan consists of private and public
