Antoni Gaudí was born on June 25, 1852, he was a Catalan architect who has been
internationally recognized as one of the most prodigious experts in his discipline, as
well as one of the greatest exponents of modernism.
He wanted to make his architecture the most beautiful, sustainable and effective
work possible. For all these reasons, Gaudí affirmed: "Originality consists in returning to
the origin."
What caught my attention the most was that Gaudí planned the
construction of 18 towers. The highest will represent Jesus Christ, while the
others will represent the apostles, the evangelists and the Virgin Mary. The
monument will thus reach a maximum height of 172.5 meters, the
columns resemble irregular tree trunks, branches, snails and many more
elements. He designed the lighting of the Holy Family to delve into
spiritual allegories and not only to functionally illuminate the space.
The Nativity façade receives the light of dawn as a symbol of the birth of
Jesus, light of the world. The passion façade receives the light of the sunset or
the setting sun, a metaphor for the death of Jesus and his descent into hell.
And the Glory façade receives the light of daylight that illuminates the
central nave in all its splendor, symbol of the resurrection. He is a genius,
he created his own style and a masterpiece that will last forever.
