PREREQUISITES FOR ORACLE

Creation of 3 x groups.
Creation of user.
Setting of Kernal parameters.
– In Solaris, kernel parameters were amended by adding entries to the "/etc/system" file,
followed by a system reboot. Note (Kernel parameter values will be different in case of RAC
and Single Instance).
(Refer scripts provided with the manual).
Placement of Oracle image on OS.
– Create dir ‘source’ in ‘u01’ through root user then assign rights through chmod command
– Copy Oracle 11g source files to /u01/source folder of the server.
– unzip solaris…………_database_1of2.zip

Launch X Manager to Run Oracle Installation Wizard


– Open Session with Xstart.
– Select PATH ‘/u01/source/database’.
– Start the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) by issuing the following command in the database
directory.
– . ./runInstaller

Run ‘./runInstaller’ to copy the Oracle 11g


software.

Click on ‘Next’ button without entering email


address.

Click on ‘Install Database Software only’.

Click on ‘Single Instance Database


Installation’.

In Product Languages, select ‘English’.

Select ‘Enterprise Edition’.

Give ‘Oracle Base’ and ‘Software Loc’ path.

– Oracle Base:
/u01/app/oracle
– Software Location:
/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome

Give Oracle inventory directory path


– Inventory Directory: u01/app/orainventory

Select ‘Administrator’ and ‘Operator’ gp as


dba,oper.

Perform Prerequisite checks and verify


Summary Report.

Check if instl is in progress.

Run the scripts using root user acct on CLI as


shown in the figure.

Check if all the scripts have run successfully.

Once the scripts run successfully, instl ends.


Click ‘Close’.

Verify ./runInstaller completion msg.

Now run NETCA for Listener Configuration.


PATH:-
/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome/bin/
./netca

Select ‘Listener Configuration’.

Select ‘Add’.

Give Listener Name as Listener (by default).

Select TCP/IP Protocol.

Select Standard Port number 1521.

Configure another Listener if req.

Now run Database Configuration Assistant.

Click Next for creation of Database.

Select ‘Create Database’ tab.

Select ‘General Purpose’ or ‘Transaction


Processing’ options as shown.

Give Global Database name (Any Name).

Select Enterprise Manager for instl.

Give password for SYS, SYSDBA, SYSTEM,


and SYSDMAN.

Register Database with Listener.

Select Storage Type ‘File System’.


Select ‘Oracle Manage File’ option.

Specify Flash Recovery Path (value given as


default).

Select ‘No script to run’ option.

Select options as shown in fig.

Select options as shown in fig.

Verify Summary screen.

Select ‘Create Database’ option.

Press Finish button to finish instl.

Now create DB Envmt file to connect


with SQL.
– Select PATH ‘/export/home/oracle’.
– vi db.env (Refer scripts provided with
the manual).
Check the status listener.
– Lsnrctl status
Connect with SQL.
Sqlplus / as sysdba

Logging to Enterprise Manager


Now open Internet Explorer and do
the following.
Access https://10.x.x.x:1158/em
Emctl status dbconsole (If not
started then start it)
Emctl start dbconsole
