Presidents of the USA

The American Governmental system has three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial.

They work on the basis of the U.S. Constitution. While the legislative branch has the right to
create laws the executive branch can veto it. The president belongs to the executive branch.
He is the head of the states and the government, and also head of the military  and diplomat.
He has the right to veto the laws created by the legislative branch. If somebody wants to be a
president he must be a natural born citizen of the United States, and has to live there for 14
years, and has to be older than 35 years.

As a president he earns USD 200.000 a year plus USD 50.000 for expenses. He gets a free
home at the White House with housekeeping. He also gets a free jet that takes him whereever
he wants and a limousine. When a president is elected, he or she serves the government for a
period of 4 years, but maximum 8.

We learnt about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

George Washington was born in 1732 in Virgina. He was one of the most popular presidents.
His father died when he was young. But luckily he had an older brother who taught him some
basic subjects. At the age of 16 he became a surveyor. Later he joind the military. He took
part in the French Indian War, where he almost died. Later he was elected as a legislator in
Virgina. He was really upset about the British

Washington, George (1789-1797)

The Washington's Birthday Celebration (WBCA) [1] is an almost month-long event held

each February in Laredo, the seat of Webb County in south Texas, that celebrates the birthday
of George Washington. It is the largest celebration of its kind in the United States with
approximately 400,000 attendees annually. The celebration consists of various festivals; a
Society of Martha WashingtonColonial Pageant and Ball, Princess Pocahontas Pageant and
Ball, two parades, a carnival, an air show, fireworks, live concerts, "Fun-Fest" at Laredo
Community College, and a citywide prom during which many of the Laredo elite dress in
Colonial attire. Each year a prominent Laredo man and woman play the roles of George and
Martha Washington. One of its main events, the JalapeñoFestival, has recently been named
one of Top 10 eating festivals in the United States.

George Washington never did visit or even know of Laredo, TX.

Also called the Fourth of July, Independence Day marks the historic date in 1776 when the
Declaration of Independence was approved by a group called the Continental Congress.

Lincoln, Abraham (1861-1865)
Lincoln's Birthday is a legal, public holiday in some U.S. states, observed on the anniversary
of Abraham Lincoln's birth on February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville (Hodgensville, Hodgen's
Mill), Kentucky.[1] Connecticut,[2] Illinois,[3] Indiana,[4] Ohio, California, Missouri, and New
York observe the holiday.

In other states, Lincoln's birthday is not celebrated separately, as a stand-alone holiday.

Instead Lincoln's Birthday is combined with a celebration of President George Washington's
birthday (also in February) and celebrated either as Washington's Birthday or as Presidents'
Day on the third Monday in February, concurrent with the federal holiday.
