CRUCITA PART THREE

It was a day in spring. Crucita was eating dinner with her parents. Suddenly
Crucita said, “I think we should plant the crops soon. I think we should plant
them next week.”
Crucita´s father was surprised. “Next week?” he said. “That´s very early.”
“Yes,”said Crucita.
Crucitás mother asked, “why should we plant so early this year?” “I do not
know,” said Crucita. “But I think it is a good idea”. Señor Valdez though for a
moment. He turned to his wife. “We never plant so early,” he siad. “But let us
listen to Crucita.”
The next week Señor Valdez began to plant his crops. A neighbor saw him and
said, “why are you planting so early?”
Señor Valdez told him what Crucita had said. “You must be joking,”said the
neighbor. “You are planting now because of Crucita?”
“Yes, said señor Valdez”.
“I see,”said the neighbor.at first he thought Señor Valdez was wrong to plant
so early. But then he thought about Crucita. He has Heard about her dream.
He remembered how she saved Ricardo and Hermano.
The next day he began to plant his crops.
Before long all the farmers in the village were planting their crops. Everything
grew very well that year. Everything came up early. One by one the farmers
gathered their crops. Finally all the crops were in.
Señor Valdez was sitting in the living room with his wife. He was happy. He told
his wife, “the crop was very good this year.” Just then Crucita´s sisters ran into
the house.
“Look outside!”said isabella.
“Yes, look outside!”shouted Rosita.
Everyone ran to the window. They looked outside. They saw a black cloud. The
cloud was moving toward the village. All at once it got very dark. There was a
loud crash. Then it began to rain. It rained very hard. It rained harder and
harder. The rain mixed with ice. The hail crashed down everywhere. The hail
made loud noises on the roof. It broke some windows in the house. I crashed
down on the empty fields.
Then, suddenly, the terrible storm was over. The sun came out. The day began
to get brighter.
Señor Valdez said, “I am glad we planted early. The storm would have
destroyed the crops.”
Crucita was standing at the window.
“Look,” she said. “A rainbow”.
Everyone looked outside. They saw a beautiful rainbow in the sky.
