Yarn needle sc2tog: single crochet 2 st together

Locking stitch markers (optional)
Key: *See Resources, last page.
ch: Chain
sc: single crochet The Child measures 14” tall, and 22” from
hdc: half double crochet ear to ear
dc: double crochet

The doll is crocheted in one piece from the top of the Head and down to the feet. Soles
of the feet are crocheted separately and sewn on. Arms are crocheted and sewn on.
Ears, eyebrows, eyelids, and nose are all crocheted separately and sewn on.

Unless otherwise noted, rounds are worked in unjoined spirals. Use a stitch marker if
necessary to mark the beginning of each round.

Note: If this is being made for a child, please use caution with the safety eyes and the
robe button. Due to the nature of the crocheted fabric, it is possible for the eyes to
come out through normal wear and tear through holes in the fabric. For guaranteed
safety, crochet or cut out black felt circles and sew into place instead of using plastic
eyes. Use velcro instead of a button.

Eyes
Before beginning the crocheting
of the Head, you will need to get
the Eyes ready. Cut two circles
from brown felt, approximately 1
5/8” across. Cut a slit in the
center and insert the post of the
30mm eye into the slit. Set Eyes
aside for now.

Head/Body/Legs
Rnd 1: Starting at top of head with yarn A and an H Hook, make an adjustable ring, ch

Rnds 32-40: Sc in each st.

**At this point you should insert a stitch marker to hold your place. Insert brown felt-
backed safety eyes positioned as shown, between Rnds 13 and 14, approximately
12-13 sts apart. Snap the safety washer onto the post of each Eye to secure into place.
Glue down edges of felt with felt/craft glue. Stuff the Head and Body with lots of
polyester fiberfill. Holes should not show through in the fabric.

You will now be splitting the doll to make the Legs.

Rnd 41: Sc into next 12 sts. Ch 6, skip next 24 sts, insert a stitch marker in next st to
mark beginning of next rnd, continue to next Rnd.
Rnd 42: Starting at the marked stitch, sc in next 24 sts, sc in ch 6 (30 sts)
Rnd 43: *(Sc2tog, sc in next 8 sts), rep from * to end of rnd (27 sts)
Rnd 44: *(Sc2tog, sc in next 7 sts), rep from * to end of rnd (24 sts)
Rnds 45-49: Sc into each st.
Rnd 50: Sc in next 9 sts, *[(2hdc, dc) in next st, (dc, 2hdc) in next st, sc in next st],
repeat from * 2 more times (three toes made), sc in next 6 sts (36 sts)
Fasten off and cut tail short.

Second Leg
Rnd 41: Join yarn at center of ch 6 across Leg opening (27th st of Rnd 42 of first Leg)
with a sc, then sc around opening (30 sts)
Rnds 42-49: Repeat Rnds 42-49 from first Leg.
Rnd 50: Sc in next 6 sts, *[(2 hdc, dc) in next st, (dc, 2 hdc) in next st, sc in next st],
repeat from * 2 more times (three toes made), sc in next 9 sts (36 sts)
Fasten off and cut tail short.

*You should have two feet with three toes each,

turned out slightly. Due to variations in tension
and gauge, your toes may be lined up incorrectly.
You may alter the placement by placing the toes
at different places on the last round.

Foot Sole (Make 2)

Rnd 1: With yarn A and H hook, make an
adjustable ring, ch 1, sc 6 into the ring. Pull tail to
close ring (12 sts)

Rnd 4: *(Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st), rep from * to end of rnd (24 sts)
Rnd 5: *[(2 hdc, dc) in next st, (dc, 2 hdc) in next st, sl st in next st], repeat from * two
more times for a total of three toes. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Stuff Legs firmly. Line up toes on Sole and Foot and sew each in place. Weave in ends.

To give him a little butt, thread a yarn needle with a strand of yarn A. Insert needle
between the legs, and pull up and out through the center of the back. Pull straight down
and back between the legs, cinching the back down and creating an indentation.
Repeat for more definition, then pull yarn tightly and knot to the surface of the doll, then
tuck the knot and the tail inside.

Arms (Make 2)
Rnd 1: With yarn A and H hook, make an adjustable ring, ch 1, sc in ring. Pull tail to
close ring (6 sts)
Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each st (12 sts)
Rnd 3: *(2 Sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts), rep from * around (15 sts)

into place between and slightly lower than the center of
the eyes, then use yarn needle and yarn tail to sew
Rnd 2 around and into place on the face. Weave in
ends.

Sculpting (optional)
Thread a yarn needle with a very long strand of yarn A. Come up at the back of the
neck and pull needle up through the corner of the eye, stitch back down into head and
across to inside corner of second eye, then stitch through back into the head and out
the back of the neck. Pull tightly to make eyes sink in slightly. Knot into place and
repeat the process for the outside corners of the eyes. Continue the sculpting by pulling
the needle up next to the nose, across the top of the nose, and back down, pulling and

yarn, stitch the flattened Rnd 26 into place at the side of the Head, curving the base
slightly as you sew into place. Weave in ends.

Robe
*If you are working with the fuzzy Pipsqueak yarn or a similar furry textured yarn, it is
important to keep your stitches relatively loose. You probably won’t be able to see the
stitches very well, so you should try working based on feel. To keep things lined up,
count each stitch as you go so you know you aren’t skipping stitches or stitching twice
into the same stitch.
Row 1: With larger J hook and brown yarn B, and starting at the bottom of the Robe, ch
50. Dc into 3rd ch from hook and next 47 chs (48 sts)
Rows 2-10: Ch 2, turn, dc into each st (48 sts)

Finishing:
Using your finger tips or a cotton ball, rub pink blush all over
the inside of the ears as shown. Through time the blush may
fade. To prevent this you can lightly spray the blushed ears
with aerosol hairspray.

To add contour along the eyelids, eyebrows, and mouth,

trace along the edges with a gray permanent marker (like
Sharpie).
