1. Compliance

SB effectivity date * FEBRUARY 2011

* Date on which this Mandatory SB becomes effective and must systematically be complied
with, according to the conditions of application.
This date corresponds to when all resources needed to perform the procedure (parts, tools,
documentation, etc.) will be available.
If these resources are available any earlier, the Mandatory SB may, as an exception, be
applied prior to the effectivity date.
CAUTION: FAILURE TO APPLY THIS MANDATORY SB MAY LEAD TO THE UNCOMMANDED
IN-FLIGHT SHUT-DOWN OF BOTH ENGINES IN THE SAME MISSION WHICH, ON A
TWIN-ENGINE HELICOPTER, LEADS TO AN EMERGENCY AUTOROTATION LANDING.
A. Application
Application of this Service Bulletin (SB) is considered mandatory as a result of a technical
requirement which might affect flight safety. It may be done immediately or to accommodate
an existing schedule.

Note 1: This Mandatory SB applies to ejector assemblies:


- for which the application of IC No. 298468 or SB No. 292 73 0826 is recorded in
the engine log book [with the serial number (SN) of the related ejector assembly
(3)],
- or are engraved near the identification plate of the ejector assembly (3), but for
which the application of SB No. 292 73 0826 is not recorded in the engine log
book.
Note 2: This Mandatory SB does not apply to ejector assemblies:
- for which the application of SB No. 292 73 0826 version B is recorded in the
engine log book [with the SN of the related ejector assembly (3)].

* During starting, N1 rise shall be continuous and linear up to ground idle.
In case of doubt, contact your TURBOMECA Field Representative to confirm if starting
behavior is correct.

B. Purpose (Figures 1 and 2)
To verify, on the fuel system, that the ejector (2) is correctly assembled in the body of the
ejector assembly (3).
C. Description
This procedure consists of performing a visual inspection for compliance of the correct
position of the ejector (2) in the body of the ejector assembly (3) further to its re-assembly for
the application of SB No. 292 73 0826.
D. Approval
The technical information contained in this document has been approved under the Design
Organization Approval No. EASA.21J.070.
This Mandatory SB is subject to an Airworthiness Directive.
E. Manpower
(1) At the operator's site, at a TURBOMECA-approved Service Center or at a
TURBOMECA-approved Maintenance Center
(a) Personnel: 1 mechanic.
(b) Time required: 1 hour.
(2) At a TURBOMECA-approved Repair Center
(a) Personnel of approved Repair Center.
(b) Time determined by the Repair Center as being appropriate for this level of
intervention.

Refer to paragraph 3.
G. Tooling
(1) At the operator's site, at a TURBOMECA-approved Service Center or at a
TURBOMECA-approved Maintenance Center
Standard tooling.
(2) At a TURBOMECA-approved Repair Center

2. Instructions to be incorporated
A. Implementation
This procedure may be performed without removing the engine from the helicopter.
Application of this procedure necessitates removing the ejector assembly (3) from the
engine.
(1) At the operator's site, at a TURBOMECA-approved Service Center or at a
TURBOMECA-approved Maintenance Center
Remove, check and re-install ejector assembly (3).
(2) At a TURBOMECA-approved Repair Center
(a) Ejector assembly installed on engine.
Remove, check and re-install ejector assembly (3).
(b) Stand-alone ejector assembly.
Not applicable.
B. Operating instructions (Figures 1 and 2)
(1) Remove ejector assembly (3): refer to relevant ARRIEL 1 Maintenance Manual,
task 73-19-10-900-801.
(2) Remove screws (4) (x3).
(3) Remove union (5) and discard preformed packing (6).
(4) Check position of ejector (2) in body of ejector assembly (3) per Figure 1:
(a) Make sure that position of circlip (7) is correct in its groove, which shows compliant
position of ejector (2).
(b) If position of ejector (2) is compliant, re-install union (5).
1 Lubricate new preformed packing (6) with engine oil.
2 Install preformed packing (6) on union (5).
3 Install union (5) on ejector assembly (3) with screws (4) (x3).
4 Torque screws (4) (x3) to standard value.
(c) If position of ejector (2) is not compliant:
Replace ejector assembly (3) with ejector assembly which has been checked
compliant per this Mandatory SB, or apply TI No. 292 73 0826 again through
application of SB No. 292 73 0826.
Note 1: Application of a Technical Instruction (TI) requires specific qualification as
specified in the relevant technical instruction.
Note 2: Further to a non-compliant check and if SB No. 292 73 0826 is applied
again, position ejector (2) per Figure 2 during re-installation.
(5) Install ejector assembly (3): refer to relevant ARRIEL 1 Maintenance Manual,
task 73-19-10-900-801.
C. Reconditioning and checks
(1) At the operator's site, at a TURBOMECA-approved Service Center or at a
TURBOMECA-approved Maintenance Center
Perform a ground run check: refer to relevant ARRIEL 1 Maintenance Manual,
task 71-02-13-280-801.
(2) At a TURBOMECA-approved Repair Center
Refer to the ARRIEL 1 Overhaul Manual.

D. Identification
(1) At the operator's site, at a TURBOMECA-approved Service Center or at a
TURBOMECA-approved Maintenance Center
(a) Complete the following section in the current engine log book:
- Section "E": record the application of Mandatory SB No. A292 73 0834 [specify
the P/N and S/N of ejector assembly (3)].
(b) Complete the following section in the unique engine log book:
- Section "A": record the application of Mandatory SB No. A292 73 0834 [specify
the P/N and S/N of ejector assembly (3)].
(c) Notify TURBOMECA that Mandatory SB No. A292 73 0834 has been applied by
returning the fully completed compliance certificate (Appendix of this Mandatory
SB).
(2) At a TURBOMECA-approved Repair Center
(a) If engine is returned
1 Complete the following section in the unique engine log book:
- Section "A": record the application of Mandatory SB No. A292 73 0834
[specify the P/N and S/N of ejector assembly (3)].
2 Notify TURBOMECA that Mandatory SB No. A292 73 0834 has been applied by
returning the fully completed compliance certificate (Appendix of this Mandatory
SB).
(b) If stand-alone ejector assembly is returned
