My Philosophy of Life

Ivan Regis Arcena

“Life is too short. Focus on what really matters most. You have to change your priorities
over time.”
Life has so many to offers. It may give us blessing as well as problems but in the end it
gives us satisfactions and lessons. Be of the same mind, students’ life was never an easy-going.
As a maritime student, who dwells with the same dilemma. I have to think of a greater pace to
face such challenges. Normally, I worked and believed the tenets of ‘perseverance’ and ‘faith.’
As nothing worthwhile cannot be achieved without tremendous efforts and sacrifices. However,
with God’s grace, nothing is impossible.
As a student who also undergone several ups and downs, one of the thing we should
really possessed was focus. It was hard sometimes especially that we were surrounded by
distractions. But, as long as we try our best to work for it, everything is possible. Life is too short
to dwell from disruptions. Focus on what really matters most. You have to change your priorities
over time.
Oftentimes, I had had a hard thinking about priorities. I seldom work to some less
important things than those of my priorities. I felt a little bit demotivated lately towards my
studies. But despite of these, I did not let my emotions had a controlled over me. I let myself
busy from recreational activities, I work hard now even at the slightest, and I go to church
regularly.
By doing that, we were not just helping ourselves to be in good way but also to be a good
servant to God and to be an inspiration towards others in our chosen field. As for me, I will keep
and uphold these viewpoints as my guiding light and ideals throughout the process of becoming
a seafarer.
