1.

In what ways (if any) has this chapter changed your understanding of what
systematic theology is? What was your attitude toward the study of systematic
theology before reading this chapter? What is your attitude now?

I think the importance of systematic theology in learning the word of God, the
emphasis of the matter, the attitude / preparation in studying systematic theology.
Before I study or read the book, I am confident that will just affirm my knowledge
about the scriptures, but now it humbles me, and challenges me to study more in a
systematic way. Though I don’t have any negative impression about systematic
theology, but now I am more thankful to God and motivated to study this book, and I
pray that I can study it by God’s grace & by the working of the Holy Spirit in me,
faithfully and meaningfully.

2. What is likely to happen to a church or denomination that gives up learning

systematic theology for a generation or longer? Has that been true of your
church?

It may hinder church growth. It may lead to unnecessary disunity in the church with
regards to doctrine. It may contribute to confusion with regards to what God really
intends us to know & do, as an individual or as a church. Though in our church
promotes study of God’s word, and believes that the bible is really God’s word, yet I
think we must align our way of study in which God intends, that will not water down
the meaning of scriptures, but in a way that the scriptures will be understood as it is
in God’s mind.

3. Are there any doctrines listed in the Contents for which a fuller understanding
would help to solve a personal difficulty in your life at the present time? What
are the spiritual and emotional dangers that you personally need to be aware of
in studying systematic theology?

Though all of the contents are I believe will help me to understand deeply about
Christian doctrines, but I think two of them are about end times & the church. I must
be aware of challenges that this study will bring to my present beliefs with regards to
doctrines, that I must be aware also of the pride that it may cause if it is not studied
according to how it must be studied, because of the new learning from this book.

4. Pray for God to make this study of basic Christian doctrines a time of
spiritual growth and deeper fellowship with him, and a time in which you
understand and apply the teachings of Scripture rightly.
5. Do you think you would pay more attention if God spoke to you from heaven
or through the voice of a living prophet than if he spoke to you from the written
words of Scripture? Would you believe or obey such words more readily than
you do Scripture? Do you think your present level of response to the written
words of Scripture is an appropriate one? What positive steps can you take to
make your attitude toward Scripture more like the kind of attitude God wants
you to have?

As a student of God’s word, and as I have read this part about the written word of
God, It is (scriptures) God’s self disclosure to us, through the inspired writings of the
biblical authors, He revealed himself, His nature and will for us to know Him more,
and to do His will. The bible as God’s word is sufficient to know His Son, the Word of
God, everything He spoke in the ancient times that He intends us to know are
recorded in the scriptures, about the decrees of God, and all that He commanded. I
will treat the scriptures as the written Words of God, not less compared to actual
voice of Him, or through a prophet, because the bible as it claims, is God’s inspired
word, and I believe that it is.

Though I know my response not be as perfect as God wants , but by the help of gifted
people explaining to me the sufficiency of scriptures, its inerrancy & inspiration, by
work of the Spirit for me to understand His Word, I believe my response to the
scriptures now is an appropriate one, and I believe that as read and learn the
scriptures, by the work of God in me I grow, and as I grow, I believe that my attitude
towards the written Word of God also will grow and become mature, to the direction
that God wants.

6. When you think about the many ways in which God speaks and the frequency
with which God communicates with his creatures through these means, what
conclusions might you draw concerning the nature of God and the things that
bring delight to him?

To know the many ways God communicates to us and is communicating to us. It

reveals that God is a powerful Being from whom the universe exists & sustained
through His decree. That He is a personal God, who communicates to us His nature
& will, His wisdom & character. That He is a faithful God who from the beginning
until now communicating to us Himself from an actual voice in the ancient times,
through the prophets, through His Son & His disciples, and through the Holy Spirit
inspired Word. It is God’s delight that we know Him more and more, and to know &
obey His words, as our love & worship.
