Surah As Saff – Ayath 2 & 3 , which means
“O you who believe, why do you say what you do not do? It is
loathsome indeed with Allah that you say what you do not do.”
Respected judges, teachers, parents and my dear friends,
Assalamu Alaikum Wa rahmathullahi taala wa baraka athuhu
I am here to speak about the value of Honesty and Truthfulness.
A true believer is one who is truly submitted to God. He has many
characteristics by which he can be identified. The most obvious of
these noble characteristics are honesty of character and truthfulness
of speech.
Prophet Mohammad (sallallahu Alaiwa sallam) was a perfect
example of honesty. Even before his Prophethood, he had earned
the titles of Al Amin, which means “the trustworthy one”, and As
Sadiq (the truthful).
Al Amin, the Prophet Muhammad once gathered all the people of
Mecca and asked them, “O people of Mecca! If I say that an army is
advancing on you from behind the mountains, will you believe me?”
All said in one voice, “Yes, because we have never heard you telling a
lie.” All the people, without exception, praised his truthfulness and
honesty because he had lived a perfect and extremely pious life
among them throughout his life.
“For honesty to be complete, it must exist in three things. It must
exist in the heart as ones faith, it must exist in the intentions behind
ones deeds, and it must be present in the words that one speaks.”
In Surah At-Tawbah, Ayah 119 Allah commands the believers, saying:
ْ ُ‫وا هّللا َ َو ُكون‬
َ‫وا َم َع الصَّا ِدقِين‬ ْ ُ‫وا اتَّق‬
ْ ُ‫يَا أَيُّهَا الَّ ِذينَ آ َمن‬

“O you who believe, fear Allah and be among those who are
honest.”
Truthfulness and honesty are two characteristics without which a
man cannot claim himself to be a true Muslim.
So let us vow together to embrace honesty and truthfulness whole
throughout our life.
Jazak Allah Khair
