professional, or social purpose.

Architectural definition:
• Architecture related to a specific organization or
establishment.
• Environmental, social and economic factors are base of it
including rules, laws and traditions.
• Exploration of design in harmony with nature and people
and carving out the character of organization

Design Brief
• Project: Design of an community level Institution in urban/rural context of
Pondicherry based on previous semester study of coastal area community
housing design with medium level complexity with a mix of functions which
serves economical, social and architectural values to community.

• Inference of previous community studio - study architectural character of


fishermen community. Student will understand and document community
housing in coastal zone in Tamilnadu.

• Analytical case studies of Institutions in different cultures and time periods may
be done as group or individual.

• Narambai village pattern for particular occupation based community it leads to interdependency of
housing, institution, temples and relation with local community level fishery activity.

• Looking at local community it needs an institution which upgrades social, economic and architectural
values to local villagers.
