V. FINISH THE READER AND WRITE A SUMMARY USING TOUR OWN
WORDS
At the beginning of the story we see Captain Robert Walton, who during a tour in his boat
saw in the distance in the ice the silhouettes of some men on sleds, one was a huge man and
the other was a normal man. They both disappeared into the ice. The next day the captain
found one of the men floating on the ice, he was the normal man. The captain welcomed this
man on his ship, the very grateful man introduced himself, his name was Victor Frankenstein.
A few days passed and Victor recovered, so he told his story to the captain.
He said he was born in Geneva, his parents loved him very much and had adopted a girl
named Elizabeth to marry when they were older. He also had 2 other brothers, Ernest and
William, and a woman who helped them at home, her name was Justine. At school she met a
great friend named Henry Clerval. Victor's mother fell ill and died. Victor studied alchemy and
in a couple of years he discovered how to create life with parts of corpses. He worked for a
year on this creature, but when it was finished he saw how horrible it was and wanted to
escape. Victor fell ill and Henry cared for him. When he recovered he wanted to return to
Geneva and received a letter saying that William had died. They blamed Justine for William's
death, although they knew that she had not been, Victor knew that the murderer was his
creature. Justine was sentenced to death. Victor went to the Alps to reflect, and in that place
he found his creature, who confessed to the murder, but who had done it out of revenge
since they had abandoned him, the creature asked Victor to create a companion for her to be
his wife, Victor agreed. He worked on his new creature and when he was about to finish it he
was afraid that both would destroy humanity, so he destroyed the second monster, but the
first monster saw this and vowed revenge on his wedding night. Then Victor received a letter
from Henry, saying he was waiting for his return, so Victor went on a boat to where Henry
was. When he arrived at this place, they took him as a suspect for the murder of a man.
Victor didn't know what was going on, but when he saw that the dead man was his friend
Henry, he was very sad. Victor's father went to that place to help him and to get them back to
Geneva where Ernest and Elizabeth were safe and sound.
