KNITTED

EAR SAVERS
For people who wear medical masks
Wearing a medical mask can cause irritation on
the back of the ears. These little Knitted Ear
Savers are easy to knit up quickly and will take
the pressure off the wearer’s ears.

PATTERN
SETUP (Stitches on needle) SUPPLIES
CO 4 stitches (4)
• Approximately 8 yards worsted
Row 1 (WS): K4 (4)
weight acrylic or cotton yarn
Row 2 (RS): Sl1, K1FB, K1FB, P1 (6)
Row 3 (WS): Sl1, K1FB, K2, K1FB, P1 (8) • Size 8 (5.0 mm) knitting needles
Row 4 (RS): Sl1, K until 1 stitch remains, P1 (8) • Two ¾ inch buttons
• Darning needle
BODY • Large sewing needle that fits
Repeat row 4 until piece measures between 4.75 - 5.75 inches through the button holes
(or desired length), ending on a RS row.
FINISHED SIZE
FINISHING
Row 5 (WS): Sl1, K2tog, K2, SSK, P1 (6) 1.75 inches x 5-6 inches
Row 6 (RS): Sl1, K2tog, SSK, P1 (4)
Bind off and weave in ends. ABBREVIATIONS
Sew a button (or pop can tab) on each end on the RS.
• CO: Cast On
• Sl1: Slip stitch (knitwise)
NOTES
• K1FB: Knit 1 through the front
The RS and WS are pretty similar so don’t worry too much and back loop (increase of 1)
about keeping track. The yarn weight and button size can vary • K2tog: Knit 2 together
