5. 200 people are queuing up to get on an aeroplane. The first person to take a seat has
unfortunately lost his boarding pass and cannot remember where to sit so sits at a random
seat. The second person has their boarding pass and sits in the correct seat, unless it was
taken by the first person, in which case he too sits in a random seat. This continues until all
200 people are seated. There are no empty seats. What is the probability that the final
person to sit down sits in the correct seat?

6. The famous carpet salesman Al bin gebra has just
purchased a rectangular carpet. Unfortunately, he has
lost his tape measure so he doesn’t know the size of
this new carpet. However, when he lays the carpet
down in his rectangular 14 m by 11 m storeroom, the
four corners of the carpet just touch the four sides of
the storeroom at points which are a whole number of
metres away from the corners of the storeroom.
(Before Al lost his measuring tapes he had placed
marks at one metre intervals along the walls.)
One of the corners of the carpet is exactly 3 metres
from a corner of the storeroom on the 11 metre side
of the storeroom (see the diagram).
a) Find the exact length and width of the carpet.
b) Is your answer to (a) the only possible answer? Explain your reasoning.

9. Each column, each row and each 3x3 box must have the numbers 1 to 9.
No column, row or box can contain the same number more than once.
The nine letters in the grid each represent a different number from 1 to 9.
The numbers at the end of the rows and at the bottom of the columns are the Lowest
Common Multiples (LCM) of the letters in that row.
