Chapter 2

Design and Methodology

This chapter presents the research design, methodology,

population, and data-gathering tool.

Research Design

It is a descriptive survey method. The survey questionnaire

is the main tool used by the researchers. Interviews have been

conducted with the respondents of the study to supplement the

data responses that will be obtained from the questionnaire. Data

will be collated, tabulated and treated with statistical tools.

Population and Locale of the study

The population will be the Senior high school of the

University of Baguio, particularly the grade 11 students in the

regular sections. There are 1168 grade 11 students and 150

students would be the number of respondents. The researchers used

the sample size calculator with confidence level of 95% and the

margin of error is 7.47%. The study will be conducted within the

University of Baguio campus.

Data Gathering Tools

The researchers will utilize the survey questionnaire as the

primary tool to obtain the necessary data regarding the usage of

allowance of the senior high school grade 11 regular students. A

questionnaire is an instrument used to collect the specific

written data. Most items were formulated by the researchers with

the aid of the theories that were researched and connected to the

study some items were suggested by the research adviser.

Procedure and Statistical Treatment

The researchers asked permissions from the instructors to

float survey questionnaires to the respondents in class. The

researchers asked consent as an ethical means of approaching the

respondents. The questionnaires were retrieved and its results

will be put into tables and will be treated with mathematical

formula.

Ethical Considerations

This research had undergone ethical considerations. Rest assured

that all information provided will be kept in utmost

confidentiality and would be used only for academic purposes.

Participation in this study is voluntary and participants are

given the right to withdraw and decline. The research

participants are not subjected to any harm and protection of

privacy was highly ensured. Also any type of communication in
