Lesson Plan in Applied Economics

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the session, the students are expected to:

1. Identify the factors to be considered in making industry analysis.

II. SUBJECT MATTER: A guide to Industry and Environmental Analysis


REFERENCE: Applied Economics 1st Edition, Google, YouTube
MATERIALS: Laptop, Projector

III. PROCEDURE:

A. Preliminary Activity

Checking of Attendance
B. Lesson Proper
a. Review
What was our topic last meeting?
b. Motivation
The teacher will show pictures to the students and they will be tasked
to identify to whom the products belong?

c. Discussion
1. Activity
The class will be divided into two groups. With the teacher’s guide,
each group should suggest a business that they want to put up. Each
group should then justify their choice of business. Each group will
discuss among the members the environment that should be studied in
terms of the location they decided to choose. Based on the
environmental analysis, the group members should identify all the
factors that need to be studied in the specific environment/location.

2. Analysis
The teacher will ask the students of the following questions:
Why do we need to make a study about the business that we are
going to put up?
What are the factors to be considered in putting up a business?
Do you think there is a guarantee that a business will become
successful if you go through an industry analysis first? Why?

3. Abstraction
The teacher will discuss the topic. Students will participate in the
discussion.
4. Application
The teacher will show commercials of two products and they will be
tasked to answer the questions that the teacher will give them.

IV. EVALUATION
Give the factors to be considered in analyzing the industry and analyzing the
environment before putting up a business. Write a short description for each
factors.

V. ASSIGNMENT
Think of a new product you would want to introduce in the market. It can be a
good already being sold but which you can innovate and improve, or it could
be something really new that you yourself conceptualized. Describe that
product in terms of design, composition as to materials used, products use or
application, and its attributes which you believe are unique in that product.
