Argument 3: Syllogism 3
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other
organisms. The information in DNA is stored as a code made up of four chemical bases: adenine (A),
guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T). On the other hand, genes are segments of deoxyribonucleic
acid (DNA) that contain the code for a specific protein that functions in one or more types of cells in the
body (Genetic Home Reference, n.d) .
Basing on the statement, it is true that the DNA is a sum of all genes since genes consist of
deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and it contains the code, or blueprint, used to synthesize a protein
(Finegold, 2017). Also, deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA is the material that is located in the cell's nucleus
that makes up the chromosomes and genes. According to Dr. Juan, a gene is located on a chromosome
and chromosomes is made up of DNA tightly coiled. Every factor in inheritance is due to a particular
gene. Genes specify the structure of particular proteins that make up each cell.
