Comments:

Leo, again you have produced a strong report. Well done.

In terms of specific feedback, please consider the following:

 Your executive summary was good, but you should always provide some context to the report – it is not really clear what your report is about until you get further
down into the exec summary. Your intro is very long too, typically you wouldn’t want your intro to be longer than a couple of paragraphs (max) – so you just need
to watch the length.
 You provided a very thorough discussion of your online resources.
 Your search strategies were well developed, demonstrating a number of different advanced search strategies and you provided in-depth discussion justifying your
choices. However, at some stages there was some confusion as to the goal and the strategy. For example, in your alternative search strategy for objective one, you
state that the goal is to reduce the number of results – while in practice you are are removing limits on the search which will infact increase the number of items you
retrieve. The problem is not that you have removed the limit commands – you just need to demonstrate that you understand what impact it will have on the number
of items you return.
 It would have strengthened your report if, as suggested in your interim report, you have searched at least one of your objectives in both databases – this would have
allowed you to really show how you could tailor your search strategies in a comparable way. This is particularly true for objective two – which would have benefited
from being searched in both Google and an academic database. The client was particularly emphatic about getting high-quality resources, so it would make sense
that this objective would be searched in an academic database.
 Be careful with truncation though – (see alternative search strategy two) – truncation something so much eg. ‘do*’ is not an effective use of truncation as it will pull
too big a range – it will retrieve anything that begins with ‘do’ not just the words you want.
 Your selection criteria could have been stronger – ‘links’ is suitable for your Google resources, but not so apprpriate for your database results.
 The section on ‘discussion of results’ could have been strengthened with more discussion of the total results retrieved. Eg. Did you retrieve what you expected you
would retrieve? Where all there results high quality, or where there some results that were unexpected or poor quality? What about the numbers of results you
retrieved (not just selected) from each resources – did you retrieve what you expected?
 In section 8.3 you mention that you are lacking Queensland specific results – however, I can’t see that you have specifically searched for ‘Queensland’ in any of
your search strategies.
 Your online resource for monitoring – toga.com.ay – does not seem to meet the requirements of your client. While geographically, it is a good choice – in terms of
the content it does not provide the depth or quantity of information that your client requires. Although it says that it’s aim is to promote organic gardening and
farming practices, it does not provide much solid information at all – remember that your client is a professional farmer and is only interested in organic farming
from the perspective of increasingly the profitability of their farm. Toga is more of a community type organisation, and as such the information is not as appropriate
as it could be.
 Most of your selected 20 resources were very relevant and high quality, but not all are entirely appropriate. The client was really interested in getting practical
reports, and articles that describe actual farming techniques, but some are either too theoretical or just not completely appropriate to the client.
 Your self-assessment contained some general comments about the strengths and weaknesses of your work, but you didn’t provide very much reflection on your
actual learning process – eg. What barriers you faced, how you overcame them, what you learned in the process about both the way you learn and the content of the
course.
