IDENTIFY YOURSELF WITH GOD

BY: WALTER C. LANYON

Not until man comes to identify himself intimately with God, can he feel the Unconditioned Power moving within
and without him.

We constantly hear the statement, "I am a son of God," and yet see this son going through all sorts of evil
experiences, and sometimes in the throes of almost insurmountable misery. Unconsciously many of us are still
looking to a God who is afar off, and even if we come to a place of a nearer relation with him, yet we feel we
are separated from him, and still find ourselves petitioning him to do something for us.

The Secret of Jesus' success was his ability to identify himself with God. "I and my Father are one" was
constantly spoken forth by him, and yet so few people understand that in identifying himself with God, he
instantly recognized one Power only. When he became conscious of his oneness with God he had nothing to
ask for, nothing to seek, nothing to do; for he discovered all things in perfect order in the Kingdom of Heaven.

"Of myself I can do nothing - but - with God all things are possible." All is enough. The human mind praying
and beseeching God to do something is like a perfect kind of electrical equipment with no power. We are
points of expression for this God power, and until we identify ourselves with it - we are in darkness.

One with God is a majority. When you become one with anything, you become that thing, so to speak; so to
become one with law is to actually become that law in action. A drop of water is one with the ocean and a
sunbeam one with the sun, not separate, and yet individual in expression. So man is one with God, and as
soon as he comes to recognize this he thrills with a joy that almost bursts his capacity to receive it, from the
sheer bliss of freedom and expression.

It is then that "all that the Father hath is mine," and then only from a point outside of God man is always trying
to make a contact with him; but by identifying himself with God, man loses his pygmy self and personality and
discovers his God-given heritage - "Divine Individuality," a chosen vessel, a special channel through which
God can and does express, untrammeled and free.

When man becomes identified with God he learns for the first time what I AM really is, and he knows there is
truth in the statement, "To think is to create"; in fact, he learns from this identification that "Thinking is creating,"
and his "joy is full."

As long as we remain separate from the body of Christ Jesus, just so long will we struggle to get things, and
chatter about thinking and creating, and eventually go down into the ditch of disappointment. But when we
awake to the glorious at-one-ment of God, when we identify ourselves with him, then we lose the fear and
struggle of life. We actually understand how it is we can "set ourselves and see the salvation"; how it is we can
win the battle, which seems to be waged against us; how ten thousand may fall at our right and left hand and
we remain untouched. Not by declaring God as our present help, but by identifying ourselves with the one and
only Power, can this be done. Then it is that the eye is opened and, like Elisha's servant, whereas we saw our
city besieged by many fearful warriors and chariots - which to the one believing in evil - presents a frightful
problem - we suddenly see the mountain (exalted thought) full of the fire of defense, and we know that "Those
that are for us are more than those that are against us." We are one with those that are with us: we have
identified ourselves with the Power - with God Almighty, and there is no fear.

Then shall you go forward and crash the gates of fear and of circumstances. Then it is that you shall know that
the "Army of the Lord is encamped round about you." Then it is that the song of joy and praise will ring from
your lips, right in the face of the oncoming adversary of the circumstance world.

Jesus, knowing this wonderful secret, brought it to the attention of his followers; "Judge not from appearances."
Elisha's servant judged from appearances and saw evil, while Elisha - at the same time - saw nothing to fear or
about which to worry. Which State are you eager to accept - that which has to overcome and fight with the
powers of darkness, or that which, through absolute faith, feels the soft pinions of the Almighty and goes safely

to his goal, conscious that the faith that is the substance of all things hoped for is the faith that actually lays
hold of the things? Having eyes ye see not - "Why do ye doubt, oh ye of little faith?" "Be still and know that I
am God."

Identify yourself with God; become consciously one with him - "I and my Father are one" and nothing else
matters, for then, for the first time, you are going to be still and know that I AM is God, and every time that is
consciously spoken after that - the manifestation must appear, for you have seen it in secret.

He who doubts is double-souled, and nothing but constant disappointment awaits him, for he is swinging
between something and nothing. But he who is persistent in faith shall rise and possess himself of his
kingdom, even though he seems to be in a desert of weariness and circumstances. Even though he be feeding
among the swine, he shall feed among the lilies and the ring and the robe shall be his. They were his all the
time, even when he was groveling in the mire of circumstances, which by his folly he had brought upon himself.

"Turn ye unto me with all your heart and ye shall find rest for your soul." "ALL" means with no reservations for
the burial of dead fathers or for setting the circumstance world in order. It means making no reservations for
outgrown beliefs or opinions, or yet looking back to the state of consciousness, which you are about to leave. It
means the instant obeying of the Voice that is calling to you, "Arise and shine, for they light is come and the
glory of God is risen upon you." Yes; you, in the mire and mud of the circumstance world, right where you
stand, right at this instant, the command comes, "Arise and shine, for the glory of the Lord is upon thee," and
the ground whereon you stand is holy ground. Hell suddenly becomes heaven, for you have recognized God
as present and have identified yourself with him. "This is my beloved Son" was said of every man.

Arise in the newness and strength of this God-power, for legions of angels go with you to the sure and certain
accomplishment of your expression. Wall after wall crumbles before you, valley is exalted and mountain after
mountain is leveled and the Power goes before you with the terrible command, "Make straight the way of the
Lord." "Behold I come quickly." "I bring not peace but a sword" to every belief that is masquerading as having
life, intelligence, or power.

"Arise, get thee up into a high mountain." Identify yourself with God and see his salvation pouring out on all
mankind. "Go thy way without thought of the journey, the scrip, or the purse"

You have heard what the I AM is, and you know that the very Christ-consciousness within you is "The way, the
truth, the light," And so you move into your heaven, from glory to glory. You are in the Spirit, and therefore
above the law of limitation and belief. You have been released from the curse of the law. You are through with
trying to get things and making demonstrations, for they are so plentiful that they are as the sands of the sea.

Dominion and activity are yours. The sluggish waiting is over. Arise, go forth, son of God. "This is my beloved
Son in whom I am well pleased." It is well - and so it is.

The Summons Sets my heart aglow - I hear God calling, I must go!
