3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

EC Classification : Flammable.
Irritant.
Dangerous for the environment

Human Health Hazards : Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), an extremely flammable and toxic gas, and other hazardous
vapors may evolve and collect in the head space of storage tanks, transport vessels and
other enclosed containers. Hydrogen sulfide is highly toxic and may be fatal if inhaled.
May dull sense of smell, so do not rely on odor as an indication of hazard. Irritating to
skin. Contact with hot material can cause thermal burns which may result permanent
skin damage. Hot product may cause severe eye burns and/or blindness.

Signs and Symptoms : Skin irritation signs and symptoms may include a burning sensation, redness, swelling
and/or blisters.

Safety Hazards : Flammable. In use, may form flammable/explosive vapor-air mixture.

Environmental Hazards : Toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in aquatic
environment.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
4. FIRST AID MEASURES

General Information : DO NOT DELAY. Keep victim calm. Obtain medical treatment immediately.

Inhalation : If inhalation of mists, fumes or vapors causes irritation to the nose or throat, remove to
fresh air. If rapid recovery does not occur, obtain medical attention. Casualties suffering
ill effects as a result of exposure to Hydrogen Sulfide should be removed to fresh air. Do
not attempt to rescue the victim unless proper respiratory protection is worn. If the
victim has difficulty breathing or tightness of the chest is dizzy, vomiting, or
unresponsive, give 100% oxygen with rescue breathing or Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR) as required and transport to the medical facility.

Skin Contact : Hot product - If contact with hot product, cool the burn area by flushing with large
amounts of water. Do not attempt to remove anything from the burn area or apply burn
creams or ointments. Cover the burn area loosely with a sterile dressing, if available.
Transport to the nearest medical facility for additional treatment. It should be noted this
product contracts on cooling. When a limb is encased, care should be taken to avoid the
development of a tourniquet effect. In the event of this occurring, the adhering product
must be softened and/or split to prevent restriction of blood flow. All burns should
receive medical attention.

air respiratory equipment in confined spaces. Prevent from spreading or entering drains,
ditches or rivers by using sand, earth, or other appropriate barriers.

Clean Up Methods : Small spillage- Soak up residue with an absorbent such as clay, sand or other suitable
material and dispose of properly. Use clean non-sparkling tools to collect the materials
and place into a suitable and clearly marked container for disposal or reclamation in
accordance with local regulations.

: Large spillage- Prevent from spreading by making a barrier with sand, earth or other
containment material. Reclaim liquid directly or in an absorbent. Treat residues as for
small spillage.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

General Precautions : Avoid contact with hot liquid to prevent thermal burns. Extinguish any naked flames.
Do not smoke. Remove ignition sources. Avoid sparks. Take precautionary measures
against static discharges. Use local exhaust ventilation if there is a risk of inhalation of
vapor, mist or aerosols.

Handling : Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhaling vapor and/or mists. Use only
in well-ventilated areas. For quality, health and safety reasons do not exceeds the
recommended storage and handling temperature.

Storage : Must be stored in a well-ventilated area, away from sunlight, ignition sources and other
sources of heat. Keep tanks covered and containers tightly closed when not in use. Bulk
storage tanks should be diked (bunded). Do not smoke in storage areas. Hydrogen
Sulfide may accumulate in tanks during long term storage at high temperatures. For this
reason, tank vapor spaces be regarded as hazardous. Storage Temperature: refer to
Technical Data Sheet for correct storage and handling temperatures.

Recommended materials : For containers, container linings use mild steel and stainless steel.

Unsuitable materials : For containers or container linings, avoid using PVC, polyethylene or high density
polyethylene.
Precautions during
