success. The reason why we take this verse as the subject of our project is because it is

mainly directed toward the non-Muslims. From this verse, we can see the difference between

us as Muslims and the non-Muslims and why they are envious toward us. Other than that,

while researching for information regarding this assignment, we may be able to guide the

non-Muslims toward the righteous path which is Islam.

One of the main theme that is mentioned in the verse is admonishing the Jews for being

unreasonably envious towards the Muslims. The knowledge, the grace, the high rank and

the grandeur of mission given by Allah to the Prophet Muhammad made the Jews became

jealous. It can also be clearly seen in the verse as it strongly admonished the attitude of

their, giving reasons why their envious are unreasonable. As the translation says:

“Or are they jealous of mankind because of that which Allah and His Bounty has

bestowed upon them?”

Referring to their envy of the Prophet for the great Prophethood that Allah has entrusted

in with. Their envy made them reject him, because he was an Arab and not from the

children of Israel.

“Or are they jealous…”

Means holding self-deceptive believes such as, “We are the worthy people, rather than the

rest of the people”. Continuing the verse, Allah said:

“….for We bestowed upon the house of Abraham (of old) the scripture and the wisdom,

and we bestowed on the a mighty kingdom”

Meaning We gave the Prophethood to the tribes of children of Israel who are among the

offspring of Abraham and sent down the Book to them. These Prophets ruled the Jews

with the Prophetic tradition, and We made kings among them.

Conclusion

It can be concluded that Allah has given us many bounty for us as His followers and the

non-Muslims are envious about it. But they still did not want to admit their mistakes

probably due to their ego inside them for refusing to accept the truth despite clearly

seeing it in front of their own eyes. Therefore, we as Muslims must very grateful for what

Allah has given to us and stop comparing ourselves with others since each person is

different person.
