The contagion is a movie which was produced back in September 3, 2011 in the United States of
America, from the history of its release and publication the movie doesn’t perceive any biasness and its
highly regarded since it has been watched a million times.

The authors main idea is the spread of a virus, MEV-1 ,that is airborne and is transmitted from person to
person through droplets from sneezing and coughing and held his claim consistently which he makes it
successfully toward the end of the story.

The information the author provides to support his article is that the fact that the disease is airborne
and is causing a pandemic around the globe and the death toll is piking up. this is seen through Beth and
her son’s death at the beginning of the movie as soon she arrives from Vegas where he went for a
business trip. Also when Mitch and his daughter are denied to leave the country and are locked down in
the country.

Th evidence used by the author is also are effective and its clearly seen throughout the movie as the
virus that is a mixture of two viruses , one from bat and one from pig are severely causing a global
pandemic since the virus is always trying to seek a host through modes of transmissions, the
authoritativeness of the evidences is also clearly visible in the movie , contagion , which makes the
script credible.

The author’s main purpose for this piece is about the public health and scientific response to a
pandemic. the author is trying to give out ways ahead incase of an outbreak of a severe viruses
that causes mass deaths, this is seen throughout the movie , the measures taken to control the
outbreak be it quarantine or any other method as shown in the movie. The film presents
examples of crowd psychology and collective behaviour which can lead to mass hysteria and the loss
of social order. The bafflement, outrage, and helplessness associated with the lack of information,
combined with new media such as blogs, allow conspiracy theorists like Krumwiede to spread
disinformation and fear, which become dangerous contagions themselves.

The tone in this is more friendly and lecturing since it shows the ways of overcoming an outbreak or
what to do incase of an outbreak.

The diction is simple the author, Scott Z. Burn doesn’t make use of technical language throughout the
movie thus ensuring an understandable and friendly diction tin the movie, also the language is more
positive and appeals to once emotions .

The author doesn’t have a specific audience since the situation can catch up to any audience around the
globe, and he assumes that the facts that an outbreak might occur his audience might be suited with
the appropriate measure to control the outbreak incase it happens in the future. The author doesn’t
have a specific gender or ethnic group to base this script but to equip everyone with the rightful mind
incase of an outbreak.
