Four men Sim, Dim, Gin and Lin come to a bridge while trekking
2
in the woods. For them to go across the bridge a flashlight is
definitely required. Each man walks at a specific pace. Sim would
take 1 min. to cross. Dim would take 2 min. to cross, Gin would
take 5 min. and Lin would take 10 min. to cross. The most
important fact is that at any given time only 2 persons can walk
together on the bridge. The time taken to cross will be that of
the man who walks slowest in the pair i.e., if Gin and Lin walk
together they'd take 10 min. to cross the bridge. And the
flashlight cannot be thrown back to the starting point from the
destination. It has to be brought back. Finally, all four men
should cross the bridge and reach the other bank exactly within
17 minutes.
