A Locked Filet Mesh Practice Square
Introduction
This tiny square is to help you practice the Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) technique and also get used to reading my patterns.
Important Details
• Pattern is in US crochet terminology
• Chart is 21 x 21
• Finished square measures approximately 5”
• 4.5 mm hook (US7)
• Worsted weight yarn (40 yards total)
o Main color (MC) – 17 yards plus 6 for optional border
o Accent color (AC) – 17 yards
• Gauge: 4 DC x 2 rows = 1”

RS = right side: the side of your work that will show the finished design

Back = the side not facing you
Just remember, each color is
MC = main color (usually dark) worked into itself only and there is a
AC = accent color (usually light or multicolored) chain space between each DC
Ch = chain
If you chain tighter than me,
Sp = space you may need to Ch4 where I
Sk = skip a stitch Ch3
SC = single crochet
EF = end stitch in front: using AC, DC into the last AC window, working in front of MC
EB = end stitch in back: using AC, DC into the last AC window, working behind MC
RS - ACF SC Border
6 MC - Ch3, 1F, 1B, 5F, 1B, 1F, ES 2 SC in each gap on all 4 sides. Add
an extra CH2 space in the corners.
7 AC - Ch3 in front, 1F, 1B, 1F, 4B,
1F, EF Finished!
