WRITING TASK 1

The bar graph illustrates the amount of calorie consumption between year 1975 and 2000 by
China,Brazil,indonesia,Nigeria,Pakistan,India and Bangladesh.

Overall,Asian countries dominated the significant changes in the year 2000, where both the parameters
highest and lowest was noticed in the calorie intake at China and Bangladesh respectively. Moreover,in
the year 1975 maximum calorie was taken in Brazil while minimum in Bangladesh. All over there was an
increasing trend between the two years which was 1975 and 2000 among all seven nations but calorie
intake raised significantly more at China comparing with others.

In china, the popularity of calorie rich food diet increased as in 1975 people were including 2000 calorie
while in year 2000 it was 3000 calorie which was the maximum in both the years among seven
countries. In,addition, there was a least change in consumption of calorie in Bangladesh because it was
below 2000 calorie in 1975 and above 2000 calorie in year 2000.The calorie diet was incorporated in
Indonesia and Nigeria more actively as these two countries displayed dramatic increase in the intake of
number of calorie which increased by almost 1000 calorie and almost 700 calorie, whereas there was a
little change in calorie consumption only a raise of 250 calorie in Pakistan, however Brazil and India
followed almost same pattern of calorie food diet, as both increased by almost 400 calorie between year
1975 and 2000.

WRITING TASK 2

Globalization has affected the countries in numerous ways and one of the most vital aspect of it is
food.As we are progressing, we are getting attracted towards the phenomenon of including junk food in
our diet underestimating its harmful effects on our health. Nowadays, the youngsters and most
importantly our children of our society are more inclined to an unhealthy dietary pattern. Because of
this some parents think that to stop these bad eating habits, government should tax the junk food like
fried foods, sugary drinks, cakes etc, whereas some people think putting tax on these food items will be
discriminating and not required. I strongly agree with the concept of taxing the unhealthy food as it will
help us to foster healthy eating among people of our community.

Most importantly, eating junk food increases the risk of disease conditions as well as affects the society
and economy of the nation. If people incorporate unhealthy or junk food in their diet, they will be at risk
to develop disease conditions of heart, digestive tract and several other organs of our body, thus it will
increase the burden on our health care system which will surge the demand of more health care
facilities to handle the increased number of patients and at last it will increase the financial
requirements to attain the appropriate number of health care delivery systems.Hence,it will affect the
society and economy of our country .For example, cardiovascular diseases are the most crucial aspect in
the current scenario as it is the leading cause of morbidity worldwide and the treatment of these
diseases are also very expensive so to restrict the development of these disorders, government should
place obstacles in the selling pathway of junk food.

In addition, the taxing system can be a milestone in curbing the unhealthy eating habits and will help
government to control the buying of these food items. If taxes will be placed on junk food items,it might
discourage the people to buy them. So,in this way people will take healthy diet instead of fried
chips, canned drinks, pizza and cupcakes. It is possible that some people will still buy the junk by paying
more money, but it will decrease the number of buying ultimately. For example, earlier when pizza was
costly it attracted less people though it is very popular currently due to its reasonable cost
now. However, this is difficult to decide which items should be taxed and which should be not although a
start can be done with sugary drinks and fried foods.

To sum up, I would say that fat tax is beneficial for the health of the nation as well as for the economy
and society and it will limit the diet to the healthy foods.
