1.4 Information:

Before Columbus arrived, only indigenous people lived in America. We


communicated in many languages, like Mayan, Quechua and Chibcha. We
practiced our own arts, cultures and religions. Then, Columbus arrived and
everything changed.
Many Spanish conquerors arrived and robbed our land. They forced us to speak
Spanish and our religious beliefs. We believed in different gods like the Sun,
Moon and natural entities. But the Spanish only believed in one god. The
Spanish forced to work as slaves and they mined gold and silver for the queen.
