What is computer?
Computer is an electronic device. That process data, Store and
retrieve information with great accuracy and speed according to
the given instructions.

Input Devices are used to enter data and instructions


into the computer.
System Unit is the case that contains all the electronic
components of computer system like mother board,
power supply, RAM, CPU, Hard disk Drive etc.
Storage Devices are used to store data permanently for
future use.
Output Devices are used to show results after data
processing.
Communication Devices are used to communicate or
exchange data over communication media.

Q1: Define System Unit?
Ans: System Unit is the case that contains all the electronic components of
computer system like mother board, power supply, RAM, CPU, Hard disk Drive etc.

Q2: Define Motherboard?


Ans: A motherboard (System board) is the main printed circuit board that connects
all the peripherals and components of a computer e.g. CPU, Memory etc.

Ans: Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the primary component of a computer that

Ans: The most common units of measures for computer memory are the byte,
kilobyte, megabyte, gigabyte and terabyte.

Ans: A Word Processor is an application software used for composing, editing,
formatting and printing documents.

Q3: Write down the steps to open a Blank MS Word document in a computer.
Ans: Steps to Open a Blank MS Word Document:
 Being by clicking on the bottom left corner icon on the desktop.
 From All programs, Click on Microsoft Office →Word
 You have the option of selecting blank document, opening a recent
document or choosing from a template.
 Blank document is generally selected.
Q4: Define Ribbon in MS Word and Write names of its parts.
Ans: The ribbon is the work bar located at the top of the document. There are
three parts in the Ribbon:

Ans: A vertical or horizontal bar commonly located on the far right or bottom of a

etc.

Q11: Why do we use Wrap Text feature under Format tab?
Ans: Wrap Text feature used to set up how text wraps around the image.
Q12: Describe the purpose of Columns and Breaks command under Layout tab?
Ans:
Columns: The column feature allows you to split the page into two, three, left and
right columns.
Breaks:
 Adding several types of breaks is available.
 Adding a Page Break marks the begning of a new page.
Q13: What do you know about quick access toolbar?
 The Quick Access Toolbar is located on the upper left hand corner of the
page. Used to save changes made to a file, undo or redo any changes made
to the document.
 It can be customize to facilitate the quick access to other buttons.

Q14: What are the three ways to view screen in Microsoft Word?
Ans: There are three ways to view the screen:
 Read Mode: Splits the screen in order for the document to be viewed in two
pages.
 Print Layout: This is the default screen in which documents are viewed on
the screen. Documents are printed as shown.
 Web Layout: This screen allows you to view your document as a web page.

Q15: Write down purpose of five insert options available in “Insert Tab” of
Microsoft Word.
Ans:
1. Insert a Page Break: A page break places text on to a new page.
2. Insert a Table: Data show in row and columns.
3. Insert TextBox: It can be placed anywhere on the document.

number to each page.
