Q3. Define the following.

a. System Unit
System Unit is a box where processing takes place.
b. Memory
Memory consists of electronic chips. It stores instructions and data so that CPU can process them.
c. Processor
Processor carries out set of instructions and processes the date efficiently and accurately.
d. Barcode Reader
Barcode Reader is an input device. It gathers information by reading barcodes.
e. Motherboard
Motherboard is a main circuit board. All the computer components are plugged or connected with
it.
Q4. Differentiate between the following.
a. Hardware and Software
The physical parts of the compute that we can see and touch are known as Hardware.
Software is the set of instructions given to the computer to perform a specific task.
b. AU and LU
Au is a part of ALU, it performs mathematical operations such as additional, subtraction,
multiplication and division.
LU is also part of ALU, it compares two quantities and gives answer in the form of true or false.
c. RAM and ROM
RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It is a temporary storage area.
ROM stands for Read Only Memory. It is a permanent storage area. It contains start up instructions.
 d. Expansion Slots and Expansion Cards
Expansion card is a small circuit board. It gives a computer the capability to control a storage
device.
Expansion slots is a long narrow socket on the Motherboard into which different expansion cards
can be plugged in.
e. Input devices and Output devices
Input devices which are used to enter data into a compute are knows as input devices.
Output devices which are used to display output are called output devices.
