KARTILYA

Andres Bonifacio founded the Revolution named “Kataastaasang Kagalanggalangang Katipunan

ng mga Anak ng Bayan” or KKK. He is also a member of La Liga Filipina that’s why he already know Jose

Rizal. When Jose Rizal gets exiled to Dapitan, Filipino’s got triggered to start the revolution. They think

that it is the only way to be free from the Spaniards. Katipunan has a symbol of the members loyalty and

it is called Sanduguan or Blood Compact. They used triangle method in recruiting members, because it

shows slow in progress they switch it to two-tier sanggunian structure that makes recruitment much

faster.

Even though Rizal didn’t engage in any activities of the Organization, the members still looked

up to him as their leader. His name was used to be their password. Bonifacio admires his intelligence

and talent so he asked for advice on when is perfect time to start the revolution. Rizal told him that it is

not the right time because they don’t have enough weapon and they might just end up getting hurt but

it didn’t stop Bonifacio to start the revolution.

In joining Katipunan, members are required to read the Kartilya. It composes of lessons and

vision of the Katipunan. The ideas of Right and Light or katwiran and kaliwanagan were most important.

They want to show that Filipinos can also create their own culture and improve their society with the

help of Spain and United States and not just inherit their Age of Enlightenment.

Why mostly of those who participated in the revolution belong to the lower class?
As we notice, most of those who participate in the revolution are belong to the lower class because they

are the one who are experiencing abuse from colonization. They are the one who will benefits more if

the country will be free.
