CHAPTER I

Introduction

Background of the Study

Work immersion is a vital stage in which students can practice and


experience real and actual works that suits their interests. It is one of the
best ways where students can engage in different levels of activities that
would surely harness the skill they have molded for years of studying and
undertaking hands-on trainings. More so, it is quiet undeniable that this
helped the students of becoming a more responsible, efficient, and useful
worker of the future economy.

Since work immersion is also a learning process because the


students will be able to obtain useful information and experiences. It is
inevitable that there were also unexpected problems encountered by them.
Some of those problems may take for a long time and some of those are of
no great impact since then it only happens for a short span of time and the
students are able to cope up with it. For the meantime, students who are
engaging and experiencing lots of problems as they go on with their
training is a much knowledgeable and efficient future employee.

In contrary to that, there were also those students who aren’t able to
find a quick solution to a problem they encountered, thus, creating an
avenue for the other problems to come along their way.

While the students are in school as their first training ground, they are
already exposed to problems in their respective areas of discipline. One of
these is how should they fix and response to a certain problem who
suddenly arises out of the situation. That means of training surely improves
students’ resiliency and critical thinking skills, which also made them ready
as they start their work immersion with the chosen partner industry.

To totally complete this, it is not only important that students must be


well grown and developed on the track they’ve chosen, but, they should
also undergo training where they can surely experience problem that may
arise out of their chosen fields. If this is so, students will surely be the best
trainees as they wish they could.
Statement of the Problem

The main goal of this research study is to examine the problems


encountered by the grade twelve automotive students during work
immersion.

Specifically, this research sought to answer the following questions


that were also raised to help guide the researchers in conducting the
research study:

1. How did the students able to cope-up with the problems they’ve
encountered during work immersion?

2. What are the effects of the problems encountered by the students?

3. Are the problems encountered by the students helpful?

The above framework showcases that the problems encountered by


the students as they take their work immersion is the independent variable
or like the cause, while low social relationships, unmanaged time, and even
unpreparedness are the dependent variables or the effects.
Significance of the Study

The result of the research study would be beneficial to:

Students/trainees

- This would be a guide of them to have a deeper understanding


about the problems encountered by them during their work
immersion.

Teachers/trainer

- This would be one of their references how and what should be the
training they must give to students in preparation for their work
immersion.

Future researchers

- This would be helpful to the future researchers for this will also be
serving as one of their references if ever and whenever they will
also be conducting the same research in the near future.
Scope and Limitation

The research study was conducted and only limited to the students of
Asian Skills Academy Foundation Incorporated at the school year 2019-
2020 of the month January. In addition to that, the school is located at P5B,
Poblacion, Trento, Agusan del Sur.

The respondents of the research are the grade twelve students taking
up automotive as their strand, and those who are already undergone work
immersion.
Definition of Terms

Automotive

- Is the strand of the students who are able to experience problem


on work immersion.

Grade twelve

- Is likely the grade level of the students who encountered problems


during work immersion.

Problem

- Are those that are experienced and encountered by the students.

Work Immersion

- Is the time or stage when the students encountered problems.
