MBA (EXECUTIVE) & MBA (EXECUTIVE - HCA) I YEAR 2019

MBAEX – 8101: ORGANIZATIONZAL BEHAVIOUR & MANAGING


TRANSITIONS

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:

1. To help executive studentS gain an understanding of some basic behavioural and


organizational processes.
2. To help them adopt a startegic approach of managing people and ensuring
positive organizational performance.
3. To help them understand individual, group and organizational behaviour for the
purpose of increasing individual and organizational effectiveness.

INTERNAL ASSESSMENT AND ASSIGNMENTS (30 MARKS):

The internal assessment will be a continuing process based on classroom attendance,


active participation in the classroom discussions and exercises, mid-term test, article/or
book review, and field work (group assignment).

8. Power and Political Behaviour in Organizations (SSS)
9. Management of Conflict and Negotiations in organizations (SSS)
10. Management of Stress (KS)
11. Organization Culture (SSS)
12. Managing Organizational Change and Development (SSS)

READINGS, REFERENCES AND COURSE MATERIAL:

Following will be the basic textbooks for topics of organizational behaviour, and students
are advised to acquire a personal copy of the latest edition of at least one of these for
preparing themselves for discussion in the classroom.

1. Organizational Behaviour: Text and Cases by Kavita Singh, Vikas Publications, 3rd
edition 2015.
2. Organizational Behaviour by Stephen P. Robbins & T. A. Judge, Prentice-Hall of
India Pvt. Ltd., 14th Edition, 2011

The instructors may give the list of specific required readings, suggested readings, cases,
and other teaching material according to the topics and themes for different sessions.

The students are expected to actively participate in the discussions, exercises,


simulations, etc. so that they may be able to gain insights and develop skills for handling
interpersonal and group processes, in addition to familiarizing themselves with concepts,
research findings, and theories that may enrich their understanding of the behavioural
processes in organizations. Emphasis will be given to developing ability of the students
to apply concepts and knowledge to real life situations and find creative solutions to
managerial problems, rather than merely memorizing the concepts and theories.
