Reidbar Threaded Inserts are designed
for casting into concrete to provide
fixing points for starter bars and
structural members to be anchored
securely to concrete.
Available for 12, 16, 20, 25 and 32mm diameter

Reidbar, Reid’s Threaded Inserts are designed to
“break the bar” when using Reidbar 500E (seismic)
grade micro-alloy, hot-rolled threaded reinforcing bar
manufactured in New Zealand to AS/NZS 4671.
√ Substitutes hooked bars and eliminates bending and re-bending of reinforcing

as per DBH Practice Advisories 1 and 7.

Concrete Spacers, manufactured in Germany by Max

Frank and distributed by Reid, assist in maintaining
consistent cover before and during concreting and
do not affect the servicability or durability of the
structural member.
The correct quantity and depth of concrete cover to the reinforcement

is of great importance, both for durability and fire resistance.

Zeus
Zeus has been developed as a cost-effective combined
support and lifting bracket for flange hung ‘Double
Tee’ and ‘Ribbed’ precast floor units great than 150mm
deep.
The bracket has been designed in accordance with NZS/AS 1170 and
NZS 3101:2006.
It is the only hanger bracket to date that has been tested to the ‘Jenson
Protocol’ which recognises the combined diaphragm and beam
rotation stresses induced in flooring units under extreme loading.
Zeus is the best practice alternative to the “pigtail loop” detail which is
hard to justify using rational analysis.
• Secure in plastic hinge zones and incorporates a life safety strap.

• Only bracket to have been tested and approved in NZ for seismic loads.
• Accommodates building movement such as creep, temperature and concrete
shrinkage.
• Two part system with adjustable leg lengths to suit varying sizes of precast
unit depths.
• Hot Dipped Galvanised for durability from corrosion.
• Easily assembled in the mould and incorporates trimmer bar holes for Z1 Hanger
reinforcing. Z2 Leg
• Dual purpose reinforcing and lifting system, lifted with 7ELALE Hairpin clutch
and uses 7ELARRF Recess Former.
• Working Load Limit of the anchor is 7 tonne as per the NZ Code of Practice.

Reid™ Props are lightweight high capacity braces for hire, suitable for positioning and stabilising precast elements, retaining walls,
tilt-up panels, block wall steel structures and formwork. The braces conform to NZS3404:1997 design standards and are able to
meet the requirements of the approved code of practice for “The Safe Handling and Erection of Precast Concrete.” Reid™ props are
easy to install, robust, screw adjustable up to 500mm and slotted holes to accommodate bolts with safety stop for easy erection.

The development of Flexus™ has allowed for a range of

products which can now be released into the market. The
Flexus™ Modular Stair System has been developed as an
alternative to timber and precast concrete stair units, for the
residential and commercial building sectors.
Kerry Avery, Architect Director of Avery Team Architects, has

had a long interest in using new materials in both construction
and fit out projects.
Kerry came across Flexus™ at an early stage of

development, when investigating alternatives to concrete
in conjunction with lightweight steel and timber hybrid
structures. When Studio Italia requested a new wide
feature stair capable of easily maneuvering large cabinetry
and furniture between levels in its Auckland showroom, it
immediately came to mind as a potential solution.
The custom moulded treads and risers, and their long span
properties reduced the need to fully frame and fire rate the
support structure. Its natural self finishing concrete look
combined with exposed structural steel and glass panels
created a functional staircase, with an industrial prefab look.

Flexus Modular Floor System

The installation of over 1000m2 of Flexus™ modular flooring into

the new CMDHB Centre for Health Service Innovation (CHSI)
for Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, has just been successfully
completed.
The Flexus™ modular flooring system has been developed as an

alternative to timber framed and precast concrete floors for the
residential and light commercial building sectors.
The building has been erected over essential car parks for the
hospital and due to this, the building has been designed to be
broken down and re-erected on another site within the hospital
grounds within four years.
Over one hundred Flexus™ modular flooring modules were

manufactured to cover the 1000m2 of mid-floor and consisted of
two 4.5m and one 3m span, all at 2.4m wide, with an overall depth
of 340mm.
The building was constructed in 3 sections, each taking only one

day to install the 300m2 of Flexus™ flooring modules. The speed
of erection and the overall feel of the floor was very impressive and

exceeded Arrow’s expectations.
JASMAX decided on the Flexus™ modular flooring system as the

superior acoustic performance was required to allow the lower level
teaching facilities to be unaffected by movement and background
noise from the rooms above. The flooring system achieved an IIC of
81 which exceeded the design requirements.
Due to the possible relocation of the building, coach screw fixings Cllient Middlemore Hospital
were chosen over the standard skew nail fixings, which will allow Architectural Designer: JASMAX
the flooring modules to be easily dismantled when required. Engineering: Holmes Consulting Group

Flexus™ Shotbond

From Auckland’s first dump site to a site of historic significance the Victoria
Park Market, which is currently under redevelopment, is now one of
Auckland’s most recognised landmarks.
Eight tenants are set to move in once the project, which includes restaurants,
nightclubs and a new retail precinct, is completed.
Victoria Park Market in Freeman’s Bay, exemplified by the thirty eight metre
high chimney, was erected in 1904. The complex is a Category 1 Historic
Places building under the Historic Places Act 1993, hence the decision to
structurally retrofit the chimney to ensure one of Auckland’s iconic landmarks
would be around for many years to come.
A 20mm lining of Flexus™ Shotbond was sprayed onto the inside surface of
the brick chimney which gave it strength and ductility to resist lateral, seismic
and wind loadings while preserving the heritage significance of the landmark.
Flexus™ Shotbond is specifically designed as a material for seismic retrofitting

of URM buildings and the upgrading of bridge and wharf infrastructure. In
many cases significant strength can be provided by the Flexus™ layer itself
without the need of any additional reinforcing steel.
The unique strain-hardening properties of Flexus™ make it quite different from

any other fibre reinforced cement or mortar and its ability to bend enables
it to add ductility and strength to unreinforced masonry, even when applied
to only the interior surface. This makes it particularly appealing to designers
and owners of heritage buildings where the other alternative of thick layers of
reinforced concrete would affect fixtures and usable interior spaces.

Formliners
VinyLok™ formliners are extruded in a single use, rigid polystyrene
plastic. The formliners are extruded in lengths of 9 metres and
offer approximately 150mm in width per single sheet. The patented
VinyLok™ interlocking system allows for a seamless finish for concrete
walls in tilt-up, precast or in-situ applications. VinyLok™ features
an interlocking nailing strip, designed for simple fixing of the liner to
formwork or concrete slabs. The patented rib easily locks over the top
of the fasteners, providing seamless concrete finishes with no unsightly
VL nail head impressions or grooves reflected in the cast panel. VinyLok™
VinyLok™ Single Use Interlocking is quick and easy to assemble and the interlocking nailing strip
eliminates the need for patching.
Formliners
The new FitzLok™ Interlocking formliner panels provide a seamless,

simulated smooth brick or block masonry finish. Available locally in the
8” (203mm) Smooth Brick Running Bond pattern (#16941), FitzLok™
plastic formliner panels have keyed ends which include an overlapping
grout joint system that locks each panel into place. It completely
eliminates the time it previously took to either tape, glue or align
formliner panels. With FitzLok™ there is no patching, grinding or
buffing of seams or butt joints. FitzLok™ formliners reduce labour time
by allowing you to quickly and easily “snap” formliner panels together.

Orbiplate™
What is the Reid™ Orbiplate™ Connector?
The Reid™ Orbiplate™ Connector is a patented eccentric plate assembly which is used
for providing tolerance in all directions when connecting structural steel work and
concrete components. The Orbiplate™ is comprised of three parts. The outer and inner
plates have concentric and eccentric circular holes. The inner plate has two holes to
suit M16 and M20 fixing bolts.
How do you use Orbiplate™?

Orbiplate™ is used for steel to concrete or concrete to concrete connections.
It is welded to the steel structure and connected to the concrete structure by using
Reid™ Metric Threaded Inserts M16 or M20.

Type BLS
Function: Automatically self-undercutting. The unique design of

the SUPERPLUS causes an undercut to be created when the
installation torque is applied. As torque is applied to the anchor
the cone is drawn into the anchor sleeve and the sleeve’s outer
cutting teeth expand and undercut into the base material. This
results in a durable mechanical interlock with base material that
functions in both cracked and non-cracked concrete.
