Lightweight-Circular Stainless Steel Sightglass Units DATA SHEET 01.30
for Use in non pressurised Vessels.
– viewing diameters based on DIN 28120 –

The sight glass units, designed for welding into or onto vessel wall,
comprise a glass disc with requisite gaskets either side laid between
circular flanges which are tightly bolted together.

The advantages of these lightweight low profile windows for

atmospheric vessels (over the standard 28120 format) are:
• smaller outer diameter, and therefore vessel cutout
• shallower height above weld
• lower weight
• easier to clean
• lower cost

Viewing Diameter: 80 to 225 mm

Application:
For observation of interior of tanks, silos, stirred vessels, separators,
pipelines etc.

Operating Conditions:
Operating pressure: Nil, no pressure
Operating temperature: max. 150° C with Sodalime glass to DIN 8902
max. 280° C with Borosolicate glass to DIN 7080

Possible combinations: Complete assembly of circular stainless steel sightglass unit.

Combination with Lumiglas luminaires - even in explosion hazardous
areas - is possible; refer to Lumiglas luminaire data sheets groups 06 and
07. The cover flange is then blind drilled and tapped to suit the luminaire
fixing bracket.

Equally possible is the fitting of a window wiper SW 1. 5

DIN 50049 3.1 A or 3.1 B. 4

Installation:
After welding in the base flange (1) into the vessel wall, gaskets (2),
glass sightglass disc (3) and cover flange (4) are carefully laid and bolted
together with bolts (5). Tighten progressively on a diametric cross basis
with socket spanner.
