The story of my life

Hello! My name is Debora, and I want to tell you a summary about my life. To begin with, I was born
on February 12th, 1996 in Higuey, Dominican Republic. When I was 10 months my father died but
thanks to God I had a happy childhood. I grew up in a small family with Christian values. In my closed
family we were my mother, my brother and my grandmother. I studied a lot when I was a child
because I loved school. At the age of 12 I started high school. On the 2nd grade of high school I got
interested in English Language. But how did it happen? Once an American couple went to school to
visit and to see how things were, you know “tourists” but there was no one who knew English to talk
to them. One of the secretaries went to my classroom because she knew that in my class there was a
girl who knew English to make her talk to the tourists and help them with everything they needed
while they were there. She talked so beautifully and fluently that when I arrived home I said to my
mother: “Mom, I want to learn how to speak English”. Since that moment I knew that what I wanted
to do was to learn English and to be an English teacher. After two months me and my brother
started and English course on Saturday afternoons from 2pm to 6 pm at INSLEM Institute (some
weeks later my brother quit) where I spent 3 years. During those years, I had to make many
sacrifices because I did not have computer at home and I had to do a lot of homework and Power
Point presentations on Saturday mornings because I had 2 or 3 expositions each week. My mom and
my grandmother were a really important support for me because to tell the truth I cried a lot and
thought to quit many times, but they were always there for me. After those 3 difficult years I finally
finished. Going back, I met my husband to be, a young boy when I was 14 years old, after 5 years we
got engaged and a year after we got married, when I was 19 years old. One year passed and I got
pregnant and on October 11th , we got our beautiful baby boy Caleb Joseph who is now 2 years and
11 months old.
