FORMULATE YOUR OWN DEFINITION OF GLOBALIZATION

Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people,
companies, and governments of different countries or nations. A process driven by
international trade and investment and aided by the information technology. This
process has effects on the environment on culture, political systems, economic
development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around
the world. For me globalization is a reality. It is changing as human society develops.
It has happened before and still happening today. We should expect it to continue to
happen in the future.

A NARRATIVE THAT I AM A PRODUCT OF GLOBALIZATION

The world today is very easy, fast, comfortable and accessible world for
people living this day of age. As a young generation of the 20 th century we are now
globalized by the technology thanks for the investor, businessman, traders, and
governments that support the globalization of the world. I strongly believe that I am
now a product of globalization that is happening around the world. And I’ve
experienced it this recent time from the cellphone, laptop, internet to the home
appliances in our home that I used. It is also aided my study to be more easy and
achievable and make my dream come true. I could say that younger generation
today will cannot live without this gadget and technology because it became part of
our daily life routine. Globalization is evolving over time and make more advance and
have fast pace of our life. And I believe that in the near future I will be in the line that
will set the advancement of globalization to be more good and efficient.

JUSTIFY THE FOLLOWING:

 GLOBAL ECONOMIC IMPERIALISM

The word imperialism has been derived from “Imperium” a Latin word. The
meaning of the word is” right or rule”. Imperialism is an absolute domination of
one nation by another nation. Imperialism sprouted from colonialism.
Here comes economic imperialism, the objective of economic imperialism was to
bring profits to the nation by exploiting the national resources of the under
developed countries using the economic and political dominations. Economic
imperialism was also means economic domination of one nation by another.
Knowing that the fact that Philippines are now a third world country whom are rich
in vast natural resources and growing in economic and industrial aspect, the
economic imperialism is happening between the China and Philippines whom are
traders and investor in order to make the Philippines more progressive. But there
are also many rants on economic imperialism have come from those distrust the
capitalist system.

 GLOBL VILLAGE

The term global village describes the phenomenon of the world becoming more
interconnected as the result of the propagation of media technologies throughout
the world. Global village means all parts of the world as they are being brought
together by the internet and other electronic communication interconnections.
Others forms such as skype allow as to connect with others, especially others
countries, easier. The new reality of the digital age has implications for forming
new socially meaningful structures within the context of culture. Interchanging
messages, stories, opinions, posts, and videos through channels on
telecommunication pathways can cause miscommunication- especially through
different cultures.

 GLOBALIZATION AS A PROCESS, IDEOLOGY, AND CONDITION

Globalization as process of change. It consists of the flow of a multitude of forces;

the flow of capital, the flow of technology, the flow of information, the flow of
people, cultural ideas, and knowledge. The implications of these flows act as a
catalyst for economic, social, political and social change.

Globalization as ideology. Globalization operates on a cross-cutting “ideological

dimension” filled with range of norms, claims, beliefs, and narratives about the
phenomenon itself. Three types of global ideology which are market globalism,
justice globalism and religious globalism’s. Market globalism seeks to endow
globalization with free market norms and neoliberal meanings. Justice globalism
constructs an alternative vision of globalization based on egalitarian ideals of
global solidarity and distributive justice. Religious globalism’s struggle against
market globalism and justice globalism as they seek to mobilize a religious values
and beliefs that are thought to be under severe attack by the forces of secularism
and consumerism.

Globalization as a condition. is defined as the integration of countries into the

world economy or the global market. Such integration involves removal of all
trade barriers between countries. Social condition that according to Steger we
should think of this condition as a globality, Interdependence, hybridity as the
global imaginary.
