EC GRADE ALUMINIUM BUSBAR AND SAFETY FACTOR FOR 6300A

REFERENCE STANDARD: DIN 43670

Continuous Current Carrying Capacity Of Aluminium Conductor Up to 50Hz Ac At Ambient Temperature

Of 35 ᵅC And The Final Temperature Of 50ᵅC (As Given In Table)- I Table -6850 Amps

OUR DESIGN PARAMETERS:

Ambient Temperature - 40 ᵅC

Final Temperature - 90 ᵅC

Altitude - Not Exceeding 1000 Meters above MSL

Electric Conductivity - 32.77 m/ Ω mm2

CORRECTION FACTORS:

K1- Derating factor for Other Air and/or busbar Temperature

K2- Derating due to Heat dissipation factor

K3- Derating factor due to proximity effects for different configurations of bus systems

K4- Derating factor by busbar configuration

K5- Derating factor for painted busbar

Icont = Itable x K1 x K2 x K3 x K4 x K5

DETERMINATION OF CORRECTION FACTORS

K1- As extracted from the graph for ambient temperature of 40 ᵅC and the final temperature of 90 ᵅC
=1

K2- - Derating due to Heat dissipation factor =0.80

K3- Derating due to proximity effects for different configurations of bus systems
=0.85

K4- Derating factor as per interleaving busbar configuration=1.18

K5- Painted bus bar =1.20

= I TABLE X K1 X K2 X K3 X K4 X K5
= 6850 X 1 X 0.80 X 0.85 X 1.18 X1.2

= 6595 A

We are using 4X 254.0 X 12.7 mm Aluminium bars for a continuous current rating of 6300A as
against its capacity of 6595 A, Which provides the safety factor of 1.04.
