Setting up NEO dial-up connection (WINDOWS 10 and 8)

1. Connect Radio to Laptop using the USB A-B Cable


2. Right Click the Windows Start Icon/Button for the following Menu and Select Device Manager,
Check for any unknown device under the “Other Devices” section – if nothing there then check under
Ports – you will likely have “USB Serial Modem” or similar there – Right Click and update driver
Software

3. Select “Browse My computer for Driver Software” then “Let me pick from a list……..” then click “Have
Disk” and browse to the Dropbox folder “Public\Software and Help Files\Microwave\NEC
Software\Vista-Win7 USB Driver\for Vista” for 32bit OS 7,8 or 10 or “64Bit USB Driver Win8” for 64bit
editions of Win8/10

4. Select the .inf file in folder and “USB Modem Driver” should appear in the list – OK/Apply that and
confirm driver installed by going back to Device Manager and checking under “Modem” section

5. In the search/Cortana box start typing “Network” you’ll see Network and Sharing Center, select this
6. Select “Setup New Connection or Network” and the “Connect to Workplace”

7. Select “Dial Directly” – if you get an error about a missing modem then check you have completed
the Driver installation correctly and you are currently connected to a powered up radio
8. In the next section Telephone number should be “1234” and Connection name should be
PNMT(USB) exactly as shown in below picture

9. Click Next and then leave User,Password and Domain blank and hit create

Connecting to PNMTj

Nb. If you have haven’t already done so you must create a dialup connection shortcut for NEO radios please
see the Above steps

a. Extract the PNMTj folder from the ZIP file in the NEC Software folder on the Dropbox, also
make sure to COPY (not cut or drag) the License.key file to the C:\ root folder
b. Once extracted go into that folder and then the PNMTJ setup folder and run the installer
c. After installing PNMTj, go to your Start Menu/Apps, right click the shortcut and select
properties (you can pin it to Taskbar first to make repeated use easier), ensure “Run in
Windows XP SP3 mode” and “Run as Administrator” are ticked – then apply
d. Run the PNMTj program from installed shortcut
e. Select Dialup under connection type then select PNMT(USB)
f. Username for SWW links is: Admin
g. Password is left blank
h. Click Login

Using PNMTj

a. Once logged in to the local radio the management interface will be


Displayed
b. You should (on a working link) now see both ends of the link
c. Any items that have current alarms will be RED
d. Any items that have alarmed or minor alarms are PINK
e. Any items that are operating as expected are GREEN
f. To examine affected items simply click on them to be presented with a separate window with
the relevant information
g. To get current RSLs click “Performance Monitor” and select “Metering” on either end
