Those who use the above chart should assume that all rules and modifiers for 1943 also apply to
1944-45, and also add an extra +1 modifier on the Escort/ Air Attack Chart for all attacks during
1944-45. Previously reassigned commanders (see [11.5]) may return to command a Type XXI U-
boat to make a single patrol in May 1945. These U-boats were very advanced in terms of stealth: to
simulate this, when commanding a Type XXI or a Type XXIII, players should use rules and charts as
if they were playing during 1939 (exception: type XXI and XXIII Uboats use the "1941 or later" row
of the [U2] Torpedo Dud Chart).

"What If" Scenario: if the Germans had put all their resources into production of the Type XXI, the
war might have ended differently. If players wish, they may start a Type XXI career from May 1944.
