IOP FIRMWARE REVISIONS REQUIRED FOR PMIO CONNECTION TO

EXPERION

Background For xPM IOPs to be connected to Experion through the PMIO, they
must be at a minimum firmware revision level. Table 1 shows the kits
available to upgrade existing xPM IOPs and which specific boards they
are designed to upgrade.

Table 2 shows which xPM IOPs can be connected to the PMIO and the
minimum firmware revisions required for both R201, R210 and R3xx
releases. Older model IOP's not listed have not been tested and are
not supported by Honeywell with the PMIO.

When looking at the firmware chip, a letter will indicate the current
firmware. When the firmware revision is viewed from a screen, a
number will be displayed. Unlike hardware revisions that follow a fixed
Letter to Number relationship, see "PD 22 Y02 (B)", the firmware Letter
to Number relationship is unique to each type of IOP.

Action Table 1 shows the kits available to upgrade existing xPM IOPs and
which specific boards they are designed to upgrade. The existing IOP
model will start with either MU or MC. The MU indicates an uncoated
board and the MC indicates coated. Only MC model numbers are
available.

IOP FIRMWARE REVISIONS REQUIRED FOR PMIO CONNECTION TO

EXPERION Continued

Action, continued Table 2 provides the minimum supported firmware level for the PMIO
in question to be used with Experion. The “FW Chip” column identifies
the part number for the firmware chip on the existing IOP and what is
the minimum revision level that must be identified on the chip for
Experion.

Be aware that the firmware chip normally has just the last four digits of
the part number on the chip along with the revision letter. Example is
the IOP model PAIL02 would have chip 51120575 but would only be
marked 0575 along with the firmware revision letter.

Note: c For R210 release, Rev. E (3.09/3.9) supports 0.0 ma operation.

d MINIMUM for R201/R210.The R201 CRG showed higher revisions for some
IOPs but further evaluation lowered the revision requirements on some IOPs.
e If the F/W rev is 3.3 (B) or less then the IOP is a PAIH02 and must be replaced
with a PAIH03.

IOP FIRMWARE REVISIONS REQUIRED FOR PMIO CONNECTION TO

EXPERION Continued

Action Table 3 shows the relationship between the firmware as viewed on a

TPS (LCN) system compared to an EPKS (Experion) station.

When the firmware revision is viewed from a US or GUS on a LCN

system the firmware revision will be in the format of X.Y. Y will be a
single digit hexadecimal character. When viewed from an EPKS
system, the format will be X.YY. Here YY will be a 2 digit decimal
number.

To see the actual firmware revision on a TPS system, go to the HPM

Status Display, select an IOP, and then select Detail Status. If you use
the DATACHNG schematic from PERFMENU, enter
$NMnnBxx.IOMFWREV(y) – where nn is the process network number,
xx is the HPM number, and y is the IOP number. The value displayed
from DATACHNG will be a string so revision 5.4 will be represented as
54. On an Experion Server, open Control Builder, select the IOLIM,
select the IOLINK, and select an I/O file to see all the IOP revisions.
