TEACHING SKILLS

• I always give my passion and support by encouraging students to be creative,

reflective, resourceful, and inquisitive learners.
• One way: Giving differentiated task that fits student’s unique skills as well as
monitoring progress and assessment by sharing immediate feedback to
students.
• Strong Teaching Skills: Organizing concerts and performances like winter
concert, whole school assemblies and school activities for all student
levels (including school production.)
• Teaching piano, guitar, choir and recorder club as part of the school’s
extra-curricular activities schedule. Training students to improve their
skills in playing an instrument as well discussing advance musical theory
that may not be covered in class.
• Imposing strong classroom discipline at all times.
• Utilizing the latest trend in music education like using online music
platform e.g. Charanga, GarageBand and iPad apps.
• Peripatetic Years: Preparing students for exams (e.g. Trinity, ABRSM, LCM)
recitals, concerts, and other events. – exam results were pleasing.
• Again, my main responsibility is to assess student and motivating them
especially when they are struggling and when their progress is slow and
support them in whatever ways I can. I also give extra challenge to those
individuals who has higher ability to make sure their progress doesn’t impede.
Classroom Strategy

The Rotation Model

When it comes to teaching, there is no one 'right' way giving instructions to
students. It is always determined by a combination of factors and is subject to
change from one group of students to the next.
One model that is proven repeatedly successful in all situation is the rotation model. I use this
kind of model in teaching music because of these reasons:

Benefits:

1. It is engaging for all- it gives students more time to interact with each
other.
2. It is a modern approach learning compare to a traditional teaching
where in the teacher does all the talking.
3. It is a form of blended learning in which students alternate between
the use of technology and more traditional in-person instructions in
the classroom.

Questions

• How does the specialized subject being implemented in the curriculum?

Is it a cross-curricular or is stand-alone topic?
• Do students have their own iPad?
• Does the school have current evidences and other assessment of each
student especially in the performing arts?
