As of July 1, the Mexico, United States and Canada Treaty, known as the T-MEC,
begins.The new agreement replaces the
North American Free Trade Agreement
(NAFTA), which has been in operation since
1994.Finalizing the T-MEC involved a year of
negotiations between the three countries.
The Treaty was signed on November 30,
2018 in the framework of the G-20
summit.The Mexican legislature was the first
to approve the agreement, but it was
necessary to wait 19 months for the
Canadian and United States congresses to do the same.The new agreement
contains modifications in some sectors, and includes rules that did not exist in
NAFTA.

Opinion: because this is good, relations between countries can improve, because
it has been affected in certain political and social arenas, trade can improve if the
standards that are set are adequate
