GLOSSARY:
1) Chemical combination. Union of one or more substances, either
elements or compounds, to form a single chemical compound.
2) Artificial substances. Artificial or synthetic substances are those
created or manufactured by man, in factories, metallurgy or laboratories,
either new or non-existent species, or synthetic replicas of natural
compounds.
3) Periodic table. A Table in which the chemical elements are ordered by
their atomic number and according to their properties.
4) Distillation. Method of separation of liquid solutions consisting of two
consecutive changes of state: first, the evaporation of the substance
having a lower boiling point, and then the condensation of this vapor is a
separate vessel.
5) Waterproof. Not allowing water to go through.
6) Filtration. Unit process of separating solids in a suspension through a
porous mechanical medium, called a filter.
7) Sulfuric acid. Extremely corrosive chemical compound. It is used in
obtaining fertilizers. It is also used for the synthesis of other acids and
sulfates and in the petrochemical industry.

8) Chemical processes. Chemical and physical operations for the


transformation of initial substances into different final products.
9) Crystallization. Chemical process that from a gas, a liquid or a solution;
the ions, atoms or molecules establish bonds until forming a crystalline
network.
10) Sublimation. Change from solid to gaseous state without going through
the liquid state.
