Introduction to Indian The Indian market is one of the largest and fastest growing economies in the

be a challenging market to enter. Indian Technical textile market has been
projected to be $14,35,094.25 in 2015-16, growing at CAGR of around 12%.
India’s technical market size accounts for 4% share in the worlds’ market. The
total growth potential textile market in India is estimated to be $2,30,083.00 for
2012-13 and is expected to grow at 16% till 2015-16.
Overall technical textiles and smart textile market has bright future in India.
Overall consumption in India expected to grow and the growth of various end use
industries offers good potential for the technical textile industry. India offers
many benefits for manufacturing of technical textile including availability of raw
material, competitive labor cost, modern production facilities etc. Beside further
Indian government, policies and support can further boost in technical textile in
India.
Technical textiles continue to be one of the fastest growing sectors within India’s
textile industry, currently, about 9 percent of the world’s total consumption of
technical textiles made in India. India’s market share in the technical textile sector
expected to grow from $11.6 billion in 2013 to $26 billion by 2017.
Currently, India’s technical textile industry based on producing commodity
products that are not very R&D intensive and therefore unlike conventional
textiles, technical textiles are an import intensive industry. Many products, like

The technical textiles industry is import-intensive. In the last few years, the
industry has witnessed a rise in imports - it stood at USD 1.4 Billion in Financial
Year (FY) 2014-15 with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 8% since
FY 2007-08. Though the country currently spends a significant amount on
imports, further investing in technology-heavy products can eventually reduce the
dependence. This presents a huge scope for import substitution.
In India there are local manufacturers based in India and Foreign players
manufacturing in India. Make in India initiative has implemented to encourage
multinational as well as national companies to manufacture their products in
India.
India’s non-woven fabric is still in its early stages and is a sector of the textile
industry that relies heavily on imports. Non-woven fabrics used as applications in
the industrial filtration provide the best opportunities for Taiwan suppliers of
technical textiles.
Filtration is removal of particles from fluid by passing it through a permeable
media. The device used to achieve this known as a filter. The range of fluids used
in chemical processing covers a vast spectrum from paint to food, to fine
chemicals. Each filter has its own merits and demerits and is applicable for a
certain filtration range; some can used as pre-filters while some have very good
dirt holding capacity. Any single type of filter may not be suitable for the removal
of different types of contaminants and that too of wide particle size range. Large
variety of disposable filters are available like melt blown filters, cartridge filters,
pleated filters, spun bonded filters etc. Hence, filters produced with different
techniques are available from which to choose as per requirement of the process
and different types of filtration procedures for testing them.
