DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
TASK 25-11-46-870-801-A01
1. Description
A. Comfort
(1) The captain and first officer seats give a maximum comfort with a minimum of weight.
(2) The shapes of the foams and range of seat adjustments enable any type of occupant
to find a comfortable position while flying as well as in resting.
(3) The seats covers are made from fabrics or sheep skin according to seat version. To
change the type of the covers, refer to SB TAAI3-25-517 or TAAI3-25-721.
(a) Identification of seat covers :

D. Backrest
(1) The backrest structure has two light alloy machined beams on which are attached the
components (upper plate of backrest, reels, life vest compartment and lumbar rest
hinge).
(2) The reclining of the seat back changes from -7° to -34°.
E. Armrest
(1) The main structure has a light alloy and two shrouds cover it. The assembly is hinged
on a pin located on the backrest part.
F. Assist armrest.
(1) The assist armrest assembly has:
(a) An aluminum alloy carrier arm adjustable in relation to a horizontal plane from 0°
to 18°upward
(b) A light alloy plate upholstered with integral skin foam, hinged at the end of the
carrier arm and adjustable from 0° to 30° downward in relation to the carrier arm
axis.
(c) An aluminum alloy fitting attached to the seat bottom structure.
(2) The armrest can be stowed rearward and gas cylinders keep the armrest in its
stowage position.
G. Actuator
(1) The seat is equipped with one actuator (V F0358).
(2) The actuator is equipped with 2 AC motors. When a displacement is selected, power is
applied to the selected motor and an electromagnetic brake releases the gear
mechanism to move the seat.
(3) The actuator is equipped with an electronic over current sensor on H and V
movements. This system cuts off the power to the motor, using peak current detection.
NOTE : When actuator is disconnected from seat wiring, you must install a protection cap
or adhesive tape to prevent electro-static shock. That can damage the actuator
printed circuit board if connecting pins are in contact with metallic parts.

2. Operation
A. Seat bottom
(1) Horizontal displacement (See figure 2)
NOTE : Only the first switch operated selects the movement. it is not possible to move
simultaneously the seat in horizontal and vertical displacement.
(a) Powered control
Press the control switch, the motor is supplied until the front or rear limits are
reached.
The electrical displacement rearwards is done until the stowage position is
reached.
Do the action on the control switch in the direction of the necessary displacement.
When you release the switch, the electromagnetic brake in the actuator stops the
seat bottom immediately.
In case of overloading conditions or end travel for horizontal displacement, the
actuator stops immediately after the over current detection. If you press the switch
in the same direction, power is applied to the motor and cut off immediately. You
can hear the motor for a few seconds.

TASK 25-11-46-000-801-A01
1. General
A. The overhaul instructions contained in this manual are usually used in mechanical overhaul
workshops. If you do a not fully overhaul, it is not necessary to remove the seat from the
aircraft.
B. It is not recommended to disassemble welded, bonded, riveted assemblies unless there is
a defect. If disassembly is necessary, refer to the chapter (6001) REPAIR.
C. You must not usually remove identification plates. If it is necessary to remove them, you
must first get approval from the manufacturer.
D. It is not recommended to fully disassemble the seat. If you must repair, consult the
manufacturer. If not, only disassemble what is necessary to do the repairs or to replace
defective part (s).
E. When these instructions are applied, don’t disassemble those components which are in
good condition after inspection unless their disassembly is necessary to get access to the
defective part.
F. You must identify all the parts before the disassembly to prevent errors and to make the
reassembly easier.

3. Seat covers with fabric
A. Reason for the job
A flame retardant process identified as “LS Zirpro process” is applied on our seat fabric
covers. This flame retardant process is reputed to resist up to 10 dry cleaning cycles
without any attenuation of its properties (e.g. flame retardant, smoke & toxicity, mechanical
and cosmetic aspects).
CAUTION : DURING EACH DRY CLEANING CYCLE, TAKE CARE TO RESPECT THE
STANDARD DRY CLEANING PRACTICES TO KEEP THE PROPERTIES OF
THE “LS ZIRPRO PROCESS” ACTIVE.
NOTE : If 10 dry cleaning cycles are overpassed and/or if dry cleaning process is not in
compliance with the standard practices, STELIA AEROSPACE does not bear the
responsibility of the loss of the “LS Zirpro process” properties.
NOTE : Remove the seat covers from the seat before cleaning.
NOTE : Respect step by step the following procedure to keep the cleaning result efficient.
(1) Sort the seat covers into lots to identify those that show excessive soiling.
(2) Separate the dry cleaned “LS Zirpro” fabrics from those which flame retarding have
been dyed by any other method.
(3) Cover all self-hooking tapes (as Velcro type tapes) with pile tapes to keep them away
from damage during the dry cleaning.
(4) Turn the seat covers inside out.
(5) During the following dry cleaning steps, use PERCHLOROETHYLENE, recommended
as a cleaning medium, and load the machine to around 70% of its capacity.

on the wrapping.
(g) Every six months a visual inspection should be done:
1 Inspect that no cushion cover shows damages or stains caused by insect or
gnawing of animals.
2 Inspect the good position and the good shape of the cushion covers, in order
to make sure that Velcro type tapes have not been damaged by important
temperature difference (big risk in workshop or shed subject to high
temperature variations).
3 A visual check of polycarbonate shrouds or plastic covers, that could be
located at exposed places on the limit dimensions of the seat (for example, on
ground or on armrest extremities…), and that can be damaged by shocks or
rubbing.
4 Check the good efficiency of all compensating cylinders.
a Check the "recline" function of the seat back and its upward travel under
the own thrust of the cylinder.
b Check the downward travel of the seat until its maxi low position, and
then its upward travel under the own thrust of the cylinder.
c Check the upward travel of the side stick control armrest that is also
compensated by the thrust of its own gas cylinder.
5 There is no shelf life limit indicated by the restraint system manufacturer, but
for safety reasons, it can be advised to check the good trigger of the rotating
buckle and the locking function under the pulling of both shoulder straps.
Check also the good operation of the "lock/unlock" harness lever.
NOTE : It is not necessary to re-issue an EASA Form One after these visual
checks, because these inspection procedures are just recommended but
not mandatory. Nevertheless, you can do an updating by the way of the
cell 12 where you can mark the Inspected & Tested notion.
