NARRATIVE INITIATIVE

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
• No “Roll for initiative!” pause before combat, the one triggering the action goes first
• More dynamic flow between roleplaying and combat modes
• More tactical choices and more communication for PCs
• More engagement in combat, your turn might come up next!
• Easier to run, no dice or math
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

BASICS:
• The character triggering the action goes first.
• If you hit an enemy, that enemy goes next. Otherwise, you choose who goes next.
• Once everyone has acted, the turn is over.
• If you are the last person to act, you can choose yourself to start the next round (effectively acting
twice)

IMPROVED INITIATIVE FEAT AND INTERRUPTING:

• If you have the improved initiative feat, you can interrupt once per combat
• Before an enemy action, declare you will interrupt and go just before them
• Choose who goes next, if you did not hit anyone
• You can’t interrupt an ally

DELAYING:
• You can delay your action
• You have to be nominated again or get hit to act
• If you are still delaying at the end of the round, act or lose your turn and chance to choose who goes
next

READYING:
• Ready an action on your turn: specify the trigger and your action (as per standard rules)
• When the trigger comes up, you can act or hold it until your next turn

GROUPS OF ENEMIES:
• When fighting against large numbers of enemies, they will be grouped by type
• All members of the group act at once, even if one of them is hit/nominated
• Example: You face 5 goblin archers, 5 goblin commandoes and 5 goblin riders
• When you hit or nominate a goblin archer, all goblin archers act (not necessarily targeting you)
